As a die-hard fan who has followed Rajkummar Rao‘s career from the very beginning, I must say that his recent interview about Stree 2 has left me utterly amused and intrigued! It’s not every day you hear an actor comparing his favorite villain to his mother-in-law, and yet it somehow feels so fitting for our beloved Bikki.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but gush over how Shraddha Kapoor’s character in Stree has left an indelible mark on my heart and mind, especially when it comes to Rajkummar Rao’s Bikki persona. Initially, many of us were puzzled about whether Shraddha was the elusive ‘Stree’ in the first installment, but all doubts were put to rest with the unveiling of the sequel. In Stree 2, a new adversary named Sarkata emerged within its fictional world, and it seems that Rao has developed a soft spot for this villain, making him his favorite between Sarkata and Stree.
During an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rajkummar Rao expressed affectionately that he prefers his ‘Stree Ji’ over Sarkata because of their personal bond. He described her as “very dear; she appears in a saree, half-veil tucked away, and when I see her, even her true self emerges before me (She is so sweet; she comes draped in a saree with half-hanging veil, and when I look at her, her genuine personality reveals itself).”
“When the host mentioned his affection for the Stree, Rajkummar quipped, ‘The Stree is just like my mother-in-law.'”
For those not already familiar, Stree 2 has become one of the most successful recent releases, with box office revenues nearing entry into the Rs 500 crore club. Led by director Amar Kaushik and writer Niren Bhatt, this horror-comedy blend is a joint production between Maddock Films and Jio Studios.
As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share that the upcoming movie is a sequel to the 2018 hit “Stree,” set in the charming village of Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh. This film marks the fifth chapter in the Maddock Supernatural Universe, featuring the talented trio Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana, who bring plenty of laughter to their roles. In fact, a third installment in the Stree franchise has already been confirmed!
After the extraordinary success of Stree 2, there’s been a lot of discussion about who deserves credit for this massive achievement. When asked the actors, some have been tactfully avoiding the subject, while others find it amusing. Lately, the writer has addressed the controversy and questioned its origin.
Niren expressed his view that certain stories are shaped by fan clubs over time. He further explained that eventually, it becomes clear that the work is a piece of art, and everyone involved plays an equally significant role in its success. This includes not just the on-screen talent, but also individuals from other departments who have contributed to Stree 2’s achievement.
