‘Suits’ Star Gabriel Macht “Always” Apologizes to Fans Who “Went to Law School Because of” Show

Gabriel Macht expresses deep regret to Suits fans who consider enrolling in law school due to the series.

The actor, known for portraying the self-assured, powerful attorney Harvey Specter on a popular series from 2011 to 2019 for nine seasons, recently spoke with People Magazine about how he feels when people tell him they’re studying law themselves because of his character.

Many children have chosen to attend law school due to the influence of a popular show, according to Macht. He noted that the series is known for being fast-paced, featuring family dynamics, loyalty conflicts, and an overall cool and sleek aesthetic. The dialogue is sharp, and there’s plenty of drama. When fans approach him and say, ‘I went to law school because of you,’ Macht always expresses his sincere regrets.

The actor admitted to telling his fans afterwards, ‘I’m sorry.’ He continued, ‘If you enjoy reading, that’s wonderful! That means you’ll likely spend hours engrossed in a book, just as I am now.’

The television show Suits introduces Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), a college dropout who’s evading trouble from a questionable drug deal, as he becomes an assistant to Harvey Specter, a renowned lawyer in New York City. This series created by Aaron Korsh also features Meghan Markle, Sarah Rafferty, Rick Hoffman and Gina Torres in its cast.

In the scorching heat of 2023’s summer, I found myself drawn back into the captivating world of Suits. This timeless series saw a remarkable comeback when it started streaming not just on Netflix, but also on Peacock. For several weeks, it shattered streaming records, leaving me and many others spellbound.

Macht expressed his delight in observing how fans have ignited a fresh wave of enthusiasm towards it. He also mentioned that he’s unsure whether it was due to Netflix, TikTok, or perhaps an alignment of events, but whatever the cause, it certainly exploded in popularity beyond expectations.

Due to the revived enthusiasm for the series, creator Aaron Korsh decided to create a sequel titled “Suits: LA“. This new series is set to debut on NBC on February 23rd, with Stephen Amell and Bryan Greenberg in leading roles.

Macht added of the spinoff, “[I’m] excited for them to take the ball and run with it.”
