The Sundance Film Festival is adding two docs to its 2025 schedule.
Both “The Alabama Solution” and “The Stringer” have been selected to debut in the Premiere section of the festival, which begins on January 23rd in Park City.
As a fervent admirer, let me share that I, Bao Nguyen, delved into an intriguing two-year journey last year, which led to the creation and premiere of “The Greatest Night in Pop” at the fest. Now, I’m immersed in another captivating exploration with “The Stringer“, a project that, according to its intriguing logline, seeks to unearth the hidden scandal surrounding the creation of one of the most iconic photographs from the 20th century.
Andrew Jarecki and Charlotte Kaufman’s “The Alabama Solution” delves into the story of imprisoned men uncovering a conspiracy within one of the most lethal prison systems in the United States.
Andrew Jarecki and Charlotte Kaufman’s book “The Alabama Solution” explores the incarcerated men who reveal a secretive scheme within one of America’s deadliest penitentiary systems.
Or, even more casually:
In “The Alabama Solution,” written by Andrew Jarecki and Charlotte Kaufman, we follow some inmates exposing a hidden scandal in one of the U.S.’s most dangerous prison systems.
By incorporating these two nonfiction stories into our already strong collection of documentary films at the Festival, both produced by filmmakers who have been longtime members of our Sundance community, we’ve rounded out our programming with intriguing investigations on justice and truth,” explained festival director Kim Yutani.
The selected movies will be added to a documentary lineup featuring works by Questlove, Barry Levinson, as well as those centered around Marlee Matlin, Jeff Buckley, and Selena Quintanilla-Pérez.
