‘Survivor’ Will Let Fans Guide Gameplay for Landmark 50th Season

In the 50th season of Survivor, they’re involving a fresh team – the show’s audience – to influence the course of the game.

On Saturdays, executive host Jeff Probst unveiled that the upcoming 50th season of CBS’s competition series, set to broadcast in February 2026, will involve fan participation in its decision-making process. The show has coined this theme as “Power to the Fans.”

Jeff Probst, both host and executive producer, declared on a Saturday that the 50th season of CBS’s competition series, due for broadcast in February 2026, will be partially shaped by fan votes. The show has titled this concept “Fans Take Control.

Since its debut, ‘Survivor’ has continuously changed and now, as we approach season 50, it’s time for another transformation,” Probst stated. “This is not like anything we’ve done before with ‘Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans’. For the first time ever, the fans will have the power – deciding crucial aspects of the game such as twists, idols, and advantages. I’m eager to see what decisions our dedicated viewers make for our returning players.

Audience members will get the chance to decide on various aspects of the new season, such as whether idols are included in the game, if the traditional final four fire-making challenge is kept or changed, and whether a live finale and reunion show should take place in Los Angeles or be held in Fiji instead. Voting can begin once season 48 of Survivor starts airing on CBS, which will happen on Feb. 26.

Voting for all contestants will be finished prior to the start of season 50’s production, since Survivor films its competitions several months ahead of its television broadcast.

Alongside fan voting, CBS and Fiji Airways have organized a contest where five lucky fan groups will win a trip to Fiji, as they accompany the production team during the filming of the 50th season.

Mike Benson, president and marketing chief at CBS, stated that giving the fans control over the 50th season of ‘Survivor’ is a significant shift, benefiting both the audience and the series. To honor this, CBS is initiating an entire year-long celebration for spectators, as well as potential newcomers, culminating in ‘Survivor 50’. This kickstarts with five lucky fan groups winning dream trips to Fiji tailored around ‘Survivor’, made possible through our partnership with Fiji Airways. Additionally, a ‘Survivor 50’ branded plane from Fiji Airways will be unveiled.
