As a gamer with a penchant for dark comedies and thrillers, I can’t help but express my excitement over the return of “Sweetpea” for a second season! Ella Purnell‘s portrayal of Rhiannon Lewis in this coming-of-rage series has been nothing short of captivating.
In an announcement made on Tuesday, it was revealed that “Sweetpea,” the British comedy-thriller series featuring Ella Purnell from “Fallout,” will be back for a second season. This series, which can be described as a “coming-of-rage” show, is being produced by See-Saw Films and Fanboy in collaboration with Sky Studios.
In the second season, Rhiannon Lewis is set to reappear, harboring revenge for her hidden crimes that grow increasingly complex. Her character will take on a darker, more sinister turn than before, according to their announcement.
Taking part in Rhiannon’s growth story has been a remarkable experience for me, and it’s heartening to observe fans connect with and identify with our unique character, Rhiannon, in her entire depth,” said actor-producer Purnell. “I am eagerly looking forward to audiences witnessing what she will do next.
In the United Kingdom, Sky and its streaming platform broadcasted the first season of the show, whereas Starz was responsible for airing it in the United States.
Meghan Lyvers, Sky U.K. & Ireland’s executive director of original scripted, praised ‘Sweetpea’ as a remarkably creative series, powered by the exceptional performance of Ella Purnell. It has spellbound viewers globally,” she said. “Audience members have devoured this one-of-a-kind, darkly humorous suspense drama and eagerly anticipate what more adventures await for the character Rhiannon.
As a gamer putting myself in Alison Hoffman’s shoes, I’d say: “Ella Purnell’s stunning portrayal truly encapsulated the journey of a woman discovering her voice, and we’re overjoyed by the positive feedback from both critics and viewers. The distinctive approach of ‘Sweetpea’ in showcasing female empowerment aligns perfectly with Starz’s offerings tailored for women.
Patrick Walters, executive producer at See-Saw Films and Fanboy, added: “Making Sweetpea has been the most exhilarating of rollercoaster rides, and we’re so excited to be partnering again with Sky Studios, and to have Starz back as the show’s U.S. home.” He added: “Rhiannon already feels like an iconic character.”
Sky Studios has appointed NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution to manage the global distribution of their series for international markets.
