As an ardent admirer of the enchanting Sydney Sweeney, I find myself captivated by her journey and the resilience she exudes as she prepares to reprise her iconic role of Cassie Howard in Euphoria. The time jump of four years might be a daunting challenge for any actor, but Sydney handles it with grace, embracing the unknown and eagerly anticipating what lies ahead for her character.
Sydney Sweeney is venturing into unexplored territories and a fresh approach as she plans to re-emerge in the role of Cassie Howard, nearly three years after the culmination of Season 2 from the HBO series “Euphoria.” The groundbreaking show is about to experience a significant time leap – potentially four years if Season 3 doesn’t premiere until 2026 – and fans who were anxiously waiting for Season 3 would have been just as breathless as poor Ash in the season finale. However, production on this highly-rated drama, which also features Zendaya as the main character Rue, is expected to commence at the start of 2025. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Sweeney discussed her efforts to rediscover Cassie after such a long time has passed (see below).
“There was a considerable gap between season one and two, which has led to a fresh experience for me, given the time jump. I’m essentially figuring things out as they come and staying receptive to whatever lies ahead. At the same time, I’m quite eager. I have a deep affection for Cassie, who is always such a captivating character to portray. Therefore, I can’t wait to see what unfolds in her journey.”
After taking a break from her successful run on the popular HBO series, Sweeney has been keeping busy with several high-profile movie roles such as “Anyone but You”, “Immaculate”, and the controversial “Madame Web”. However, starting in January 2025, Sweeney will be back to revisit Cassie’s familiar turf in the fictional town of East Highland, California.

Sydney Sweeney Reveals That She’s ‘Coming Home’
Despite Cassie’s (Sweeney) toxic relationship with Nate (Jacob Elordi) seemingly coming apart during Lexi’s (Apatow) school play, Maddy (Demie) hinted to her former friend that this was just the start of things. Meanwhile, Hunter Schafer’s character Jules and Rue (Zendaya) are uncertain about their future together, but behind the scenes of the complex on-screen drama, there is no such tension among the real-life cast members. Sydney Sweeney is thrilled to reconnect with her Euphoria co-stars once more. During a recent interview, she expressed this sentiment.
“I’ve often expressed that being with my family feels like returning home. They were the team and actors who supported me at the start of my journey. Despite our diverse backgrounds, we all embarked on this adventure simultaneously. So, it’s comforting to have this close-knit group because they understand the challenges I face. It’s reassuring to be part of such a supportive community.”
Regrettably, one cast member of the hit series Euphoria, Angus Cloud, will not be appearing in Season 3 due to his untimely passing at the age of 25. This leaves uncertain the fate of his character, Fez, as there’s no news yet if he’ll be replaced or if his absence will persist throughout the series. According to Sweeney, the cast members were deeply affected by this tragic event and have been frequently comforting each other over the phone, expressing their shock and grief. In the last episode, Fez was arrested following Ash being shot legitimately, with his heartbroken brother witnessing the entire incident in dismay.
