Sydney Sweeney is ready to step into the ring.

I recently took a peek behind the curtain and snapped a few candid shots during filming for the Christy Martin biopic I’m part of. Here they are, straight from the set!

Finally, the secret’s revealed since some photographers hiding in bushes caught a glimpse, here’s some behind-the-scenes look at my current film project. For several months now, I’ve been deeply engrossed in preparing to portray an extraordinary character – a real-life heroine who waged battles not only within the ring but also outside of it.

She expressed, “Her voyage demonstrates tenacity, fortitude, and optimism, and it’s an honor for me to follow in her footsteps as I prepare to reveal her inspiring tale to you all. Stay tuned for more updates soon.

David Michôd is set to direct an as-yet unnamed movie that chronicles the real-life journey of Martin, a boxer who became famous as one of America’s leading female pugilists during the 1990s. The cast includes Ben Foster, Merritt Wever, Ethan Embry, and Katy O’Brian in this biographical drama.

Back in 1989, I kicked off my gaming journey when I met my future spouse, manager Jim Martin. From there, we embarked on this adventure together, and I kept on competing until 2012. To this day, I’m still the one and only female boxer to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated.

However, the athlete’s life has not been devoid of hardships. In 2010, her husband viciously attacked her, inflicting multiple stab wounds and shooting her in the chest, seemingly intending to end her life. Miraculously, she summoned the courage to escape from their home and hail a nearby passerby for help. This good Samaritan took her to the hospital. In 2012, Jim Martin was sentenced to serve 25 years in prison for attempting to murder her with a firearm.

The boxer confided in CBS News that his mistreatment of her was multifaceted, encompassing both sexual and emotional aspects. She disclosed that he manipulated her into becoming addicted to cocaine and consistently provided it for her. Furthermore, he extorted her and made veiled threats to expose her sexual identity.

She expressed that the aspect of her sexuality was incredibly challenging, explaining to the network, “I had become so entangled with Jim Martin, who was 25 years older than I am. He was my coach, and I trusted him implicitly. I thought he was someone I could confide in about my struggles with sexuality, family issues, and life in general. Unfortunately, everything I shared with him was turned against me instead.
