T.R. Knight, Alex Breaux, Gabrielle Nevaeh Cast in ‘Stranger Things: The First Shadow’ on Broadway

As a long-time fan of both theatre and the captivating world of Stranger Things, I am absolutely thrilled to see T.R. Knight, a veteran of Broadway and Grey’s Anatomy, joining the cast of Stranger Things: The First Shadow on Broadway! His rich experience in portraying complex characters will undoubtedly bring a depth and nuance to his role as Victor Creel, making this prequel even more intriguing.

This spring, actor T.R. Knight from the popular series “Grey’s Anatomy” will make an appearance in “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” on Broadway.

In this production, the knight is set to portray Victor Creel. The cast includes Rosie Benton from “Patriots” as Virginia Creel, Alex Breaux, who’s appearing in “Stranger Things” Season 5 on Netflix, as Dr. Brenner. Nicky Eldridge takes on the role of Bob Newby, Andrew Hovelson from “Lucky Guy” plays Principal Newby, Alison Jaye known for “Shameless” is cast as Joyce Maldonado, Gabrielle Nevaeh, popular in “That Girl Lay Lay” on Nickelodeon, will play Patty Newby. Lastly, Burke Swanson from “Back to the Future: The Musical” will portray James Hopper, Jr.

Previously announced Louis McCartney is set to return as Henry Creel on Broadway, having initially played the character in the West End. Further casting details will be revealed in January.

The performance at the Marquis Theatre starts from March 28, 2025, with a preview period, and the official opening night is set for April 22.

The play, titled as a prequel to the Netflix series, was conceived from an original story penned by the Duffer Brothers, Jack Thorne, and Kate Trefry. It’s currently under the guidance of director Stephen Daldry and co-director Justin Martin. This production made its debut on London’s West End stage in December 2023, and continues to captivate audiences there today.

In simpler terms, the story begins by depicting Hawkins, a typical town with common concerns in 1959. Young Jim Hopper experiences trouble with his car, Bob Newby’s sister dismisses his radio show, and Joyce Maldonado yearns to graduate and leave the town behind. However, things take an unexpected turn when new student Henry Creel arrives, as they discover that starting anew isn’t straightforward, and the ghosts of the past have a far-reaching influence.

Apart from his time as George O’Malley on Grey’s Anatomy, Knight has also graced the stage on Broadway with roles in plays such as “A Life in the Theatre”, “It’s Only A Play”, “Noises Off” and “Tartuffe”.

Under the joint production of Netflix and Sonia Friedman Productions, “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” was brought to life. The Duffer Brothers served as the show’s creative producers, while 21 Laps Entertainment played a supporting role in the production process.
