Tanner Fletcher SS25 Envisions 'The Artist's Dilemma'

As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds, I can confidently say that Tanner Fletcher’s Spring/Summer 2025 showcase was akin to stepping into a captivating video game level. The whimsical museum exhibit transported me from the digital realm into an intriguing narrative unfolding before my eyes.

Tanner Fletcher excels at creating performances – and this time, it was a unique museum exhibition for their Brooklyn-based brand’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection. Designers Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell transformed a Chelsea gallery into an impressive museum exhibit, with each outfit having its own distinct setting, featuring themed accessories and humorous signboards to match the titles.

Upon arrival, guests found themselves stepping back in time and receiving a copy of “The Artist’s Dilemma” newspaper – a delightful and imaginative approach by Tanner Fletcher to present his collection notes. The exhibition aimed to explore the advantages of an artist’s dilemma, such as writer’s block, by positioning models on platforms scattered around the fanciful, all-white venue, where they interacted with their props.

Titled “Loves Me, Loves Me Not,” guests initially witnessed a long silk dress worn by a model scattering white flower petals. As visitors moved through the gallery, they encountered various scenes such as “Cat Lady” with a ceramic cat on a silken leash, “First Day of School” complete with textbooks, “Gym Rats” sitting on an antique exercise bike, and “Gossiping on the Phone,” engrossed in her call. Similarly, “Finance Bro” is depicted as if in a heated phone conversation, while “Secretary Sharpening Pencils” diligently sharpens her pencils.

In other locations, alternative interpretations of The Artist’s Dilemma emerged, with artists focusing on tangible expressions such as creating miniature houses, arranging flowers, and overcoming writer’s block by typing on a manual typewriter.

The artworks showcased a strong focus on craftsmanship too, with pieces like “The Artist and Her Muse,” featuring Dylan Mulvaney as the muse, highlighting an artist meticulously painting Mulvaney’s dress, while “Tailor Adorning Suit with Bows” and “The Yarn Winder” delved into the fine details of curating the collection.

According to Richie’s on-site description, the two standout items in the collection are the Artist’s Dilemma t-shirt and the Artist’s Dilemma evening gown. Each piece embodies the philosophy of the newly launched ready-to-wear line.
