Tanushree Dutta claims she said NO to projects with MeToo-accused filmmaker; 'I came to know that his name...'

As a lifestyle expert who values integrity and courage over fame, I deeply admire Tanushree Dutta for her unwavering commitment to ethics and principles. Her journey in Bollywood, marked by bravery and resilience, is indeed inspiring.

As a diehard fan, I can’t help but admire Tanushree Dutta – a radiant Bollywood starlet who has graced the silver screen in films such as Aashiq Banaya Aapne and Bhagam Bhag. Six years ago, she boldly stepped into the limelight, sparking the #MeToo movement within our film industry by leveling accusations against Nana Patekar. More recently, Tanushree has shown unwavering courage by turning down numerous film offers from directors facing #MeToo allegations, sticking to her principles and ethics.

In a recent conversation with News18, Tanushree Dutta brought up her claims of sexual harassment against Nana Patekar from 2018 and discussed how she has faced repercussions since then. Nevertheless, she believes that every actor should speak up and bear this minor cost for the greater good.

The actress clarified that she continues to participate in public appearances and brand events, which have sustained her career. Nevertheless, following her allegations against Nana Patekar, Tanushree has yet to secure another leading role. In the very same year of 2018, a film offer came her way; however, the production team involved an individual accused in the #MeToo movement, and she was prepared to decline it.

Dutta stated, “It seems like I’m the one missing out on this deal. It’s been quite some time since I’ve worked on films.” However, her eagerness to portray leading roles in movies advocating film empowerment has been hindered by the controversy and subsequent discussions.

Later on, Tanushree mentioned that a similar incident recurred several years later. Prior to this, she had taken on some good film projects, however, she faced intense backlash and her projects suffered setbacks as a result.

Initially, the actress who gained fame in “Horn Ok Pleassss” was planning to return to films under a director from Kolkata. However, she later discovered that this project was intended to rehabilitate the image of that individual involved in an older #MeToo controversy by leveraging her popularity. Despite no formal allegations against him, there were whispers, and after careful consideration and discussions, she decided not to proceed with the project.

The actress remarks that giving up career chances hasn’t been simple, even though there’s a great demand for it. She’s put in years of effort, but everything she built has been lost. Dutta expressed, “If I can show such dedication, integrity, and honor, making these small sacrifices, others should follow suit to bring about some change.

For those not familiar, Tanushree Dutta alleged that Nana Patekar had committed sexual misconduct towards her, both off-set and during the production of their movie “Horn Ok Pleassss”, but he has consistently denied these accusations.
