Taylor Swift Remembers 9/11 as She Accepts MTV VMA: “Everything Tonight Falls Behind That”

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the virtual world of Fortnite, I can’t help but feel a sense of admiration for Taylor Swift and Post Malone. Their collaboration not only brought us an exciting game experience, but it also reminded us of the importance of remembering history and honoring those we lost on 9/11.

At the 2024 MTV VMAs, Taylor Swift paused to reflect on the somber anniversary of the 9/11 attacks as she received her initial award.

Accepting her award for Best Collaboration (with Post Malone from Fortnite), Taylor Swift started off her speech by pondering over the 23-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks at the World Trade Center in New York City.

This morning in New York on September 11, Swift reflected upon the events of 23 years past – the families who suffered loss and those we’ve lost ourselves. The significance of today lies primarily in remembering these losses. Whatever transpires tonight pales in comparison.

Following her endorsement of Kamala Harris during Tuesday’s presidential debate that garnered over 300,000 visits to the vote.gov website and made headlines, Swift later expressed gratitude towards Post Malone.

The MTV Video Music Awards of 2024, broadcasted live from UBS Arena in Long Island, were initially scheduled for September 10th. However, due to avoiding scheduling conflicts, they were postponed by one day to prevent clashing with the debate between Vice President Harris and former President Trump.

When MTV announced a change in date for the prestigious music awards ceremony, they made it known that the event would coincide with its occurrence on the 23rd anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

On the 23rd commemoration of the 9/11 tragedy, MTV will once more lend its support to the non-profit organization 9/11 Day. This group organizes the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, while Tuesday’s Children focuses on assisting families affected by the events of 9/11,” the network stated last month.

2024 VMA nominations have me absolutely thrilled! Taylor Swift is shining brightly with a whopping 12 nods, closely trailed by Post Malone with 11. Eminem also made it big with 8 nominations, while Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion, SZA, and Sabrina Carpenter each have 7 nominations to their credit. I can hardly wait for the show!
