As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for binge-watching TV shows, I can hardly contain my excitement about Phil Dunster‘s latest role! Having followed his journey from Ted Lasso to Jamie Tartt, it feels like I’ve grown up with him on the small screen. Now, he’s crossing the pond again, this time teaming up with Steve Carell in an HBO comedy series – and that’s a lineup I simply can’t resist!
Ted Lasso star Phil Dunster will cross the pond to the United States for his next series role.
Actor Danny McBride has teamed up with Steve Carell in a new HBO comedy series that Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses have co-created. This collaboration marks a reunion for McBride and Lawrence, as they previously worked together on the production of “Ted Lasso” for Apple TV+.
In May, HBO commissioned a yet-unnamed series produced by Warner Bros. TV directly to series. This show takes place at a university and explores the complex bond between a writer and his daughter.
Details about the role Dunster will play are being kept quiet for now.
Lawrence and Tarses, who collaborated on “Scrubs” and Apple’s “Bad Monkey,” are penning the debut episode of the upcoming series. They share executive producer roles with Carell and Jeff Ingold, as well as Liza Katzer from Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Both Doozer and Tarses have broad agreements with Warner Bros. Television (WBTV).
In 2023, Dunster secured an Emmy nomination for his performance as Jamie Tartt, the AFC Richmond striker in “Ted Lasso’s” third season, which may or may not be its last. Following this, he will appear in the second season of Apple TV+’s drama “Surface.” Other notable roles include a recurring part in “The Devil’s Hour” on Prime Video, an upcoming film for Prime titled “Picture This,” and appearances in “The Good Liar” and “Murder on the Orient Express.” Dunster is represented by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Shelter PR, and Jackoway Austen.
