TelevisaUnivision CFO to Retire for Health Reasons

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for following industry developments, I can’t help but feel a pang of empathy for Carlos Ferreiro. His career trajectory at TelevisaUnivision, much like navigating an epic role-playing game, has been nothing short of extraordinary. Joining as CFO just over two years ago and overseeing the merger of Univision and Mexico’s Televisa, he’s played a pivotal role in building this world-class organization.

Carlos Ferreiro is stepping down from his position as CFO at TelevisaUnivision due to health concerns, according to a statement made by the Spanish-language media conglomerate on Wednesday.

Juan Pablo Newman, currently serving as the Chief Growth Officer at TelevisaUnivision Mexico, has been appointed as the interim Chief Financial Officer, effective September 1, 2024. The company announced that Ferreiro will continue with them in a consultative role during this period of transition for the CFO position.

In October of 2021, Ferreiro began working for the media company in the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He is responsible for managing financial matters and maintaining the balance sheet at this Spanish-speaking content powerhouse, TelevisaUnivision. This company owns the Univision broadcast network and the ViX streaming platform, along with other services.

Two years ago, the company was formed through the merger of Univision and Mexico’s Televisa. As the inaugural CFO, Ferreiro stated on Wednesday, “It has been a career milestone for me to have served as the chief financial officer of TelevisaUnivision. We’ve achieved great things and constructed an elite organization capable of thriving in the international media arena.”

Prior to working at TelevisaUnivision, Ferreiro had spent two decades holding various executive roles within Grupo Televisa.

“During his crucial years with TelevisaUnivision, Carlos showed exceptional leadership, knowledge, and dedication. We deeply appreciate his numerous efforts that significantly contributed to our current success,” stated Wade Davis, the CEO of TelevisaUnivision, expressing his gratitude.

More recently, Pablo Newman held the role of overseeing domestic ad sales, marketing, and commercial operations at TelevisaUnivision Mexico. Prior to this position, he served as the CEO for Afore XXI-Banorte, a retirement fund based in Latin America.
