Tendo Mokko to Unveil ‘SHAPE OF TENDO' Furniture Exhibition in Tokyo

As a dedicated follower of Japanese design and furniture, I am absolutely thrilled about Tendo Mokko‘s upcoming SHAPE OF TENDO exhibition at Isetan Shinjuku in Tokyo! The collaboration between Tendo Mokko and an impressive roster of creatives, including Hirofumi Kiyonaga, Ichiro Yamaguchi, Kashiyuka, and Junko Katoh, is a testament to the brand’s commitment to pushing boundaries and incorporating diverse perspectives into their designs.

In August, Tendo Mokko, a Japanese furniture brand, is set to showcase a unique exhibition named “SHAPE OF TENDO” at Tokyo’s Isetan Shinjuku department store.

As a fan, I’m excited to share that this limited-time exhibition will showcase an exclusive collection of new furniture pieces, each uniquely influenced by the creative mind behind it. The collaborators include Hirofumi Kiyonaga, former creative director at SOPH., Ichiro Yamaguchi from the new-wave indie rock band Sakanaction, Kashiyuka, a member of Perfume’s techno-pop trio, and Junko Katoh, who is both a dentist and a model.

Inspired by Kiyonaga’s fervor for gold, the Putter Rack is a stylish and space-saving option for holding golf putters. Made from molded plywood, this rack showcases Tendo Mokko’s distinctive curves. The green cushioning added to it guarantees an ideal angle for storing your putters.

Yamaguchi, with a passion for furniture, has designed two stools called the YI Stools. These stools come in white canvas and black leather finishes. They are meticulously crafted from robust teak wood, giving off an allure reminiscent of mid-century modern design.

I’m absolutely in love with Kashiyuka’s Rattan Side Table, which was thoughtfully designed as a cozy spot for my feline friend. With its unique cylindrical shape and partially enclosed walls made of elegant woven rattan, this table offers an inviting open layout that allows sunlight to filter through.

Regarding Junko Katoh’s design, she imagines a chair named Seat, which embodies her blend of minimalist and comfortable style. This chair comes in three different heights. The frame is crafted from ebony wood, while the backrest and seat are covered with white bouclé fabric for an inviting appearance.

Starting July 24, I’ll have the opportunity to preview some amazing pieces on the Isetan Mitsukoshi website. Later, from August 8 to 18, these items will be available for purchase during the general sale. Plus, from August 7 to 13, you won’t want to miss the SHAPE OF TENDO exhibition on the first floor of Isetan Shinjuku!
