Terry Moran Out at ABC News

ABC News correspondent Terry Moran has been let go from the network.

The decision was made two days ago, following ABC’s suspension of Moran – their senior national correspondent and anchor for ABC News Live – due to a controversial social media post about White House advisor Stephen Miller. In the now-deleted post, Moran had labeled Miller as an extreme hater.

Our agreement with Terry Moran has expired, and due to his recent post that broke ABC News rules, we’ve chosen not to extend it further. At ABC News, we expect our journalists to uphold the utmost standards of impartiality, fairness, and professionalism. We remain dedicated to providing unbiased, reliable news coverage.

After White House officials called for action against Moran, ABC News stated that they do not endorse or support personal attacks of a subjective nature towards individuals.

Moran began working at ABC News in 1997, having spent several years previously with Court TV. Throughout his tenure, he has reported on numerous presidential campaigns (even conducting an interview with President Donald Trump in the White House in May), the aftermath of 9/11, the Supreme Court, and various other topics. Between 2004 and his move to Nightline, he served as anchor for the Sunday edition of World News Tonight. From 2005 to 2013, Moran co-anchored Nightline. Starting in 2013, he held the position of ABC’s chief foreign correspondent until 2018.

Before Trump’s second term commenced, ABC News settled a defamation lawsuit filed by Trump for $15 million, due to remarks made by George Stephanopoulos, host of Good Morning America and This Week, about Trump losing a civil sexual-abuse case to writer E. Jean Carroll.
