Tesla has revealed the 2025 update for its Model Y (named Juniper in this context). This much-awaited update was rolled out discreetly on Tesla’s Chinese consumer platform, allowing worldwide enthusiasts a sneak peek at the revamped electric vehicle.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled about the revamped Model Y, which not only sports a fresh look but also boasts enhanced tech specifications, aligning with the futuristic Cybercab aesthetic. The refreshed “Juniper” is rumored to be quieter, faster, and smoother than its predecessor, marking a substantial upgrade from the original.
Upon first sight, the exterior undergoes a noticeable transformation, most notably the redesigned front grille featuring split headlights and an extended full-length LED light bar that echoes the Cybertruck’s design. The bumper seems to draw inspiration from the Model 3 Highland, incorporating slim side intakes. Interestingly, the Tesla emblem previously mounted on the hood appears to have been omitted, lending it a sleeker appearance.
Moving towards the rear, a full-width darkened light strip is evident, described by Tesla as the first “indirect reflective body panel taillight.” Although Tesla claims that the exterior has been “completely redesigned,” the side profile remains similar to previous Model Y models. The vehicle’s overall length increases by 41 mm, and it now rides on a new set of 20-inch Helix 2.0 wheels. Certain markets will also receive the aerodynamic 19-inch Crossflow wheels, finished in black.
At present, the Model Y Juniper is expected to be available in two shades: “Glacier Blue,” a lighter hue of blue, and “Deep Blue.”
Regarding interior design, Tesla consistently adheres to a sleek, minimalistic aesthetic. Notably, the infotainment display has been expanded from 15 inches to 15.4 inches. Additionally, backseat passengers will now enjoy an additional 8-inch touchscreen screen, complementing the updated seat design and upholstery intended to enhance comfort and support. These seats are expected to incorporate a ventilated function for improved riding experience.
The Model Y’s technology has been enhanced for a more seamless ride experience. With advanced features such as acoustic glass, retuned suspension, noise-reducing tires, and additional aerodynamic improvements, the vehicle is anticipated to operate more quietly. Additionally, there have been updates to the chassis setup that enhance steering responsiveness. The dashboard, center console, and door cards have all been redesigned, incorporating a new strip of ambient lighting, vegan suede inserts for added comfort, and a new audio system seamlessly integrated into the display.
The performance capabilities of the electric motors have previously been confidential, but it’s anticipated that both versions will accelerate a bit more swiftly compared to earlier models. The base Model Y, named Juniper, is set at $39,300 USD in price, though this may vary by market.
