As a researcher who has delved into the intricate world of cryptocurrencies for years, I find the unveiling of the disappearing statue of Satoshi Nakamoto at the Plan ₿ Forum to be an intriguing and symbolic gesture. The artwork not only celebrates the enigmatic figure behind Bitcoin but also mirrors the elusive nature of its creator.
At the Plan ₿ Forum, Tether, the stablecoin issuer, revealed a commemorative sculpture honoring Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin‘s enigmatic founder, emphasizing the intrigue and impact he left on cryptocurrency.
At the 3rd Annual Plan B Forum held in Lugano, Switzerland, USDT (Tether), the company responsible for the largest stablecoin by market value, unveiled a full-sized statue of Bitcoin’s mysterious creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.
On October 25th, the issuer of USDT announced their event, dedicating it “as a tribute to the vision and enduring impact of the mysterious inventor of Bitcoin.
Valentina Picozzi’s artwork subtly alters perspective, becoming harder to see as viewers shift their location. This artistic trick represents Satoshi Nakamoto’s withdrawal from the limelight following the creation of the Bitcoin network.
Lugano is swiftly growing as a key center for digital advancement, and this sculpture pays tribute to Satoshi Nakamoto while reflecting the progressive mindset that fuels our city.

Seeking true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto
As a researcher delving into the intriguing world of digital currencies, I’ve recently found myself captivated by fresh chatter surrounding the enigma that is Satoshi Nakamoto. This renewed interest was ignited by the gripping HBO documentary titled “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery,” directed by Cullen Hoback. Intriguingly, this production posits a compelling case for Peter Todd, a prominent Bitcoin developer, potentially being Nakamoto himself. The film supports its claim by highlighting Todd’s deep-rooted cryptographic background and his early contributions to the development of Bitcoin.
Hoback’s documentary stirred up theories by pointing out what appeared to be a mistake in a 2010 online discussion, which he took as potential evidence connecting Todd with Nakamoto. Yet, many within the Bitcoin community have dismissed these suggestions, and Todd strongly warned that such accusations could lead to harmful results.
In spite of the debates, Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, pointed out that the art piece symbolizes the long-lasting impact of Satoshi’s vision, encouraging us to persist in exploring new realms of innovation and financial liberty.
