That Time Walton Goggins Almost Got Arrested In His Bathing Suit For Having A Photoshoot In The Middle Of Traffic

2025 TV lineup showcases Walton Goggins‘ exceptional presence, except for the ongoing Aimee Lou Wood saga. Disregarding behind-the-scenes incidents, Goggins’ acting on “White Lotus” and the climactic final season of “Righteous Gemstones” has been mesmerizing, even astonishing, we might add. Interestingly enough, Goggins was mistaken for a suspect by real police while wearing his swimming suit during a photo shoot in rush hour traffic.

The 53-year-old stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to talk about his success with both of his recent HBO shows (available to stream with a Max subscription), as well as his laid-back lifestyle. During the interview, part of which was shared on Instagram, the Fallout S2 actor broke down how close he came to getting hauled off to jail by a cop, and in his show-stealing Speedos no less.

Goggins spoke about taking spontaneous pictures near Santa Monica Pier, including photos from a Ferris wheel ride. He reminisced about joining a painting class for women and then planning a trip to another location. Goggins also mentioned he wanted to do some car tricks for fun and creativity.

In the vehicle we were, I remarked, ‘Alright, prepare your camera.’ Leaning slightly from the sunroof, I positioned myself. Below me, he captured shots. It was quite fascinating. I then exclaimed, ‘You find that intriguing? Wait until you see this!’

Later on, he elevated the situation significantly by boldly stepping out of the vehicle while it was still rolling through active, though relatively slow-moving, traffic. He managed to make it appear safe and there didn’t seem to be any attempts to halt him. Consequently, the events unfolded further as he navigated his way among the cars, skillfully crossing the road like a game of Frogger and reaching the sidewalk. However, it appeared that he wasn’t keeping pace with the traffic flow, so when a commanding voice echoed, his enjoyable day took an uncomfortable turn. This is how he recounted the incident:

(He) bravely maneuvered through the vehicles on foot, successfully completing a Frogger-style journey to the sidewalk. However, since he was moving slower than the traffic flow, when he heard a stern voice, his day took an unsettling turn. Here’s how he narrated it:

I became quite energized. I’m known for being an eager individual. They were moving at a snail’s pace. We were stuck in traffic. I stepped outside the vehicle. Despite crawling at around 3-4 miles per hour, I managed to exit and dash across a lane of oncoming traffic. As I looked back, I snapped some photos. Upon reaching the other side, they had no choice but to continue. Suddenly, a police car with blaring sirens appeared, and an officer called out to me, “Sir, sir, can you step aside please.

At one moment, he was high above, striking poses for the camera on top of a Ferris wheel; the next, found him in a secluded spot, clad in a small bathing suit, engaged in a conversation with an officer. Uncovering the behind-the-scenes details of this day has only made this feature all the more extraordinary and unforgettable.

Initially, Goggins hesitated and began explaining his situation to the officer, who was puzzled by his attire and actions. However, they had to leave because of the busy traffic. The actor from “The Hateful Eight” admitted he thought he might be arrested, but the incident took an unexpected turn. He went on to say:

Apologetically, I blurted out, “Oh my goodness, I’m truly sorry! Officer, I’m so sorry!” His response was, “What seems to be the issue here?” In an awkward laugh, I replied, “I’m actually doing a photo shoot.” Catching him off guard, he followed up with, “Where is your photographer?” At this point, everyone had already left in the car. Feeling like I was about to step into a cell, I thought, “I’m going to jail.” Thankfully, at the end of it all, he said with a smile, “I’m a big fan of The Shield, you know, that cop show.

I’m thrilled that the new sensation, now officially a heartthrob, had such an eventful experience surrounding his groundbreaking performance. The tension was high, artistic risks were daring, and even the casual fan couldn’t help but wonder about his choices. Fortunately, there were no major dramas, just figuring out where his team was.
