Despite the recent release of “The Accountant 2“, discussions about a potential third movie are already surfacing.
In a recent interview with the New York Times alongside Ben Affleck, the director of the film, Gavin O’Connor, expressed his desire to reintroduce Anna Kendrick’s character, Dana, if there is a third installment. Kendrick played the love interest of Affleck’s character, Christian, in the 2016 movie.
When queried about potential follow-up films, Affleck hinted at approaching Bill Dubuque (screenwriter) and O’Connor. He also stated that he is merely holding out for a brilliant screenplay to come along.
O’Connor mentioned, “We’ve discussed the possibility of having Anna Kendrick return. Perhaps it’s time for Christian to find the love he truly deserves.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share this exciting tidbit! After Affleck mentioned his hope that Kendrick still liked them, O’Connor casually revealed, “Fun fact, Ben, she and I have been exchanging messages. She’s all in if we’re game!
In the planning stages for their next production, there’s a strong interest in developing a romantic tale between Christian and Dana. However, the central theme of the second movie is primarily centered around Christian’s bond with his on-screen brother, Braxton, portrayed by Jon Bernthal.
According to O’Connor’s latest interview with The Hollywood Reporter, there had been questions about Anna Kendrick’s absence from the second movie, but she was never meant to be part of it in the first place. Instead, the focus was on bringing the brothers together to work through their issues, a topic that resonates with us all as we all seek human connection and love. O’Connor shared his excitement about delving into stories centered around brotherhood.
According to O’Connor, the plan for these films was always to make a trilogy, and he doesn’t want to wait another nine years to create the third installment.
