As a long-time Marvel fan and someone who has seen their fair share of superhero resurrections, I can confidently say that the healing powers displayed by Billy and Tommy’s spirits in Agatha All Along have left me puzzled and intrigued. While it’s exciting to see the boys back in action, the question about the physical impacts on the bodies they inhabit remains unanswered.
I’ve been binge-watching Disney+ series lately and I must say, I can’t wait to see how Agatha All Along concludes! But let me warn you fellow fans, if you haven’t yet caught up with the final episodes, beware! My life experience has taught me that spoilers can ruin the joy of uncovering a mystery on my own. So, take heed and stream the last two episodes before diving into any discussions or reviews to preserve the magic of this enchanting series!
Despite being just nine episodes long, Agatha All Along stands tall among top-tier TV shows with content that rewards multiple viewings. This is thanks to the intricate writing and introspective storytelling techniques from showrunner Jac Schaeffer’s team. Although I struggled to grasp Nicholas Scratch’s backstory and felt let down by the Salem Seven’s actions, it’s highly likely that this series will be my favorite TV experience for 2024, and I find myself continually pondering its themes.
It’s clear that many viewers, including myself, are curious about what the finale of Agatha implies for Joe Locke’s character Billy, and where we might encounter him and Kathryn Hahn’s ghostly witch in search of his brother Tommy in the upcoming episodes. However, there’s a significant question concerning the twins’ current predicament that appears to be receiving less attention than it should, even for a series that frequently delves into magic and surrealism.
Do Billy And Tommy’s Spirits Fully Heal The Bodies They Inhabit?
I must admit, Agatha All Along had me hooked on the notion that Wanda Maximoff’s twins were so real their spirits persisted even after the Westview Hex was lifted. The unfolding story of Billy/William in Episode 6 was nothing short of thrilling! And let me tell you, Ralph Bohner’s emotional comeback added an extra layer to the experience. The moment when Billy’s spirit leaped into William Kaplan’s body post-mitzvah, well, it tugged at my heartstrings, especially with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany’s powerful performance in WandaVision.
In simpler terms, I’m curious about whether Billy’s spirit somehow healed or bypassed the severe injuries he sustained in the accident, which might have caused similar long-term health problems to William Kaplan if he had survived. Essentially, did Billy’s spirit miraculously heal his fatal injuries, or did he still carry some remnants of those lethal damages?
Initially, spotting the resurrected Billy in the hospital eased our worries (although it generated more questions), but those doubts resurfaced after the drowning scene in Episode 8. Guided by Agatha, Billy is tasked with locating Tommy’s soul and transferring it to the bullied teen’s body. This seems to suggest that Wiccan and his spectral guide will be on a hunt for this character in their next adventure. However, the same question remains…
It isn’t known exactly how William Kaplan passed away, but it appears certain that the body hosting Tommy succumbed due to brain oxygen deprivation. Therefore, if we hypothetically consider Tommy as a spirit, he would need to undo the brain damage caused by this event in order to live consciously outside of a comatose state (and also address other internal injuries).

‘Kathryn Hahn’s Funny Kudos for Baring All in Marvel, but She Clarifies the Reason Behind it as Essential’
On the other hand, it seems Marvel might be preparing audiences for another speedster-related misfortune – while Ralph Bohner’s WV didn’t result in a tragic outcome directly, there’s a possibility that Billy and Agatha will locate Tommy Maximoff, only to discover he has been mentally disabled since the day of the pool prank incident.
It seems unlikely that Kevin Feige would approve something so grim, and it’s hard to imagine the Marvel Cinematic Universe setting up Tommy “Speed” Maximoff just to end in such a sad way. If things don’t turn out this way, I’ll definitely want one of these projects to definitively show that Billy and Tommy’s spirits have the power to heal bodies when they enter them.
It’s uncertain at this point which upcoming project might provide some insight or resolution to this storyline, let alone delve deeply into it. Is it possible we’ll see a Young Avengers movie spearheaded by Joe Locke? Or could this be part of the forthcoming Vision series? I hope Lilia returns soon to clarify what lies ahead!
