Director Ali Abbasi from the show “The Apprentice” has spoken out about a claimed inappropriate touching incident that was said to have taken place at the CAA’s Golden Globes gathering earlier this year.
On the weekend following the announcement, the filmmaker publicly expressed regret and shared his perspective on X (previously Twitter). “I want to speak directly and honestly about the recent articles concerning me,” he stated. “I recognize now that my actions may have made someone feel uneasy, regardless of my intentions, and for that, I offer a sincere apology.”

Abbasi stated, “On numerous occasions, I had interacted with that person and felt we shared a friendly bond. At the Golden Globes gathering, I looked forward to renewing our connection. In an attempt to be jovial, I made an informal gesture – a pat on the backside – which I meant as harmless and devoid of any sexual intention whatsoever. However, I soon recognized that my actions were misinterpreted. On the spot, I apologized to him, and the next day, I ensured my apology was conveyed through my representatives once more.
On Friday, The Hollywood Reporter disclosed that the filmmaker had parted ways with CAA and Entertainment 360, following allegations of groping. Yet, Abbasi himself had earlier mentioned a change in his professional trajectory as the reason behind his departure.
In the context of X, Abbasi clarified that the notion he was dismissed due to our interaction is untrue. Leaving his representation wasn’t a hasty choice influenced by momentary factors, but rather a strategic career move over an extended period. I accept responsibility for my actions; I erred, offered an apology, and have gained a crucial life lesson from the experience.
He admitted that he was responsible for his actions and acknowledged a mistake he made. He apologized and learned an important lesson from it, he said in conclusion. He expressed gratitude towards the cast, crew, and supporters of “The Apprentice” and hoped that attention would continue to be given to their accomplishments rather than his mistake.
The Apprentice, starring Sebastian Stan as a young Donald Trump, earned two Oscar nominations.
