As a dedicated fan of science fiction and a follower of innovative storytelling, I am thrilled to hear that “The Ark” by Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner will be returning for its second season this summer. The first season, set 100 years in the future aboard the last hope for humanity’s survival, has left me captivated with its intriguing plot twists and compelling characters.
The creators Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner, behind the hit sci-fi show “The Ark” (similar to “Independence Day” and “Stargate SG-1”), have revealed that the series will come back for a second season this summer. You can catch the premiere on July 17, 2024 at 10/9c only on SYFY.
“We’re thrilled beyond words to resume our space journey with the Ark’s team, and SYFY remains an exceptional collaborator and host for this project,” Devlin and Glassner expressed in a statement following the show’s renewal last year.
As a gamer, I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting adventures. And just like in my favorite games, the success of “The Ark” is another example of a promise being kept. Lisa Katz, president of scripted programming at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, added this during an interview. She went on to say that “heading into space with Dean and Jonathan has been quite the journey.” And let me tell you, I’m right there with her! I can’t wait to see where this otherworldly adventure takes us in Season 2. It’s going to be a wild ride!
What is The Ark About?
In a century from now, the story unfolds aboard the Ark One, a spaceship carrying the last remnants of humanity. Tragedy strikes when a sudden calamity claims many lives on board, including key personnel. The remaining survivors must work together to keep the ship running and accomplish their mission: founding an interstellar settlement to save their ailing home planet.
As I delve deeper into the captivating tale, I find myself engrossed in the complex web of romantic relationships, deceitful twists that leave me reeling, harrowing prognoses, and shocking truths unraveled about the larger Ark project.

Who Stars in The Ark?
The first twelve episodes, attracting 6.5 million viewers in total across all platforms, introduced an ensemble of actors including Christie Burke as Lt. Sharon Garnet, Richard Fleeshman as Lt. James Brice, Reece Ritchie as Lt. Spencer Lane, Stacey Read as Alicia Nevins, Ryan Adams as Angus Medford, Christina Wolfe as Cat Brandice, Shalini Peiris as Dr. Sanjivni Kabir, Miles Barrow as Baylor Trent, Pavle Jerinić as Lt. Felix Strickland, Tiana Upcheva as Eva Markovic, Paul Leonard Murray as William Trust, Lisa Brenner as Commander Susan Ingram, and Samantha Glassner as Kelly Fowler.
During an interview with SYFY Wire in late 2022, Devlin remarked that many viewers are unfamiliar with the cast of “The Ark.” This lack of recognition has allowed us to start fresh without any preconceived notions. I hope audiences will join us on this journey and develop a connection with these characters as we have as filmmakers.
As a gamer, I’d put it this way: Devlin and Glassner not only share the responsibility of co-running the show, but they also hold higher positions as executive producers. Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson join them in these influential roles. Meanwhile, Jonathan English and Steve Lee contribute to the production team.
