As a longtime fan of Bachelor Nation, I can’t help but feel deeply saddened by the loss of Hailey Merkt. At just 31 years old, her life was cut tragically short due to acute myeloid leukemia (AML). I remember watching her vibrant spirit during her time on Season 21 with Nick Viall and cheering her on as a photographer.
There isn’t any TV franchise quite as popular and expansive as Bachelor Nation, boasting a large fanbase and numerous former contestants. Regrettably, one of those former contestants has tragically passed away at a young age. Hailey Merkt, who competed for Nick Viall’s affections in Season 21 of The Bachelor, died on July 26 at the age of 31.
Hailey Merkt first appeared on Bachelor’s 21st season in 2017, at the age of 23 and identified as a photographer. Her family announced her passing after a prolonged battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on July 30, via her Instagram page, with a heartfelt tribute to the woman from Vancouver. Here’s the post:

The sad news of Hailey Merkt’s passing on July 26 was shared through their family’s GoFundMe page. This fundraising page was established last year during her treatment for AML. Despite being informed that she might have nine months free from cancer, it was discovered six weeks later that leukemia cells had returned and were spreading rapidly.
