The Best Show At Disneyland Has Ended, And I Think The Park Has Made A Terrible Mistake

As a Disneyland enthusiast, you grow accustomed to your cherished rides shutting down occasionally. Nothing at the park is so iconic that it won’t be revamped or altered beyond recognition over time. However, this doesn’t make us appreciate these changes any more. Sadly, one of the most enjoyable experiences at the resort, Storytime with Deadpool, has come to an end, and I can’t help but feel disappointed about it.

Scott Gustin, a theme park reporter, has shared some exciting updates: Deadpool and Wolverine, who have been frequently spotted at Disney California Adventure’s Avengers Campus since last summer, will no longer be present in the area. This change follows the release of their respective Marvel Cinematic Universe films. With the closure of the Storytime with Deadpool show, let’s discuss what made it so fantastic.

Storytime With Deadpool Was A Highlight Of Disney California Adventure And Should Continue

Last summer when I went to the park, I had the great fortune to attend Deadpool’s Storytime session. This turned out to be the best part of my entire vacation! Deadpool, you know him as the wise-cracking antihero, would regale us with a playful retelling of a well-known fairy tale that Disney has adapted into a movie. Can you guess who made an appearance and added some sass? None other than Wolverine! It was a side-splitting event.

Instead of using his typical fourth-wall-breaking humor, Wade Wilson might instead poke fun at Disneyland-themed scenarios. For instance, he could make jokes about the closing of Splash Mountain, while Wolverine angrily storms off to grab a drink at Pym’s Tasting Lab in search of refreshment.

During November and December, a festive spin of the show was broadcast, featuring fresh tales. Now that the holiday season has ended, instead of reverting back to the regular show, it seems that the show has concluded its run.

It’s reasonable, to a certain degree, why this action was taken. The Deadpool & Wolverine movie series has essentially reached its conclusion. It became one of the top-earning films of 2024 and was released on Blu-ray before streaming on Disney+. Apart from possibly winning some awards, the film’s lifespan has come to an end.

Although a new Marvel movie isn’t out yet, it doesn’t mean these characters will lose their popularity. The production cost for the show likely wasn’t high due to its simple stage setup and just two main actors. Given that live entertainment at Avengers Campus was reduced in 2024, and live performances have been a highlight of the superhero-themed period, the area really needs this show.

Could Deadpool Return For Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary?

It’s quite likely that Deadpool and Wolverine won’t be around at the moment, but I’m confident their departure will only be short-lived. The 70th anniversary celebration at Disneyland is fast approaching, with the main event starting in May. This special occasion promises some of the most outstanding live entertainment we’ve seen in a while.

For Avengers Campus, no specific details about upcoming celebrations have been revealed yet. However, it’s expected that construction will be ongoing, since two new attractions set for Disneyland are planned for this area. It’s possible that Marvel Universe heroes might make an appearance to attract visitors to the land.

Upon my initial tour of the Avengers Campus, it instantly became one of my top-most cherished spots. To this day, I find the area enchanting, and the sight of different superheroes roaming about never fails to bring a smile to my face. Yet, without Deadpool and Wolverine, the charm seems slightly diminished.
