The Big Bang Theory's Miyam Bialik Shares Update On Her Health Journey

As a long-time fan of Mayim Bialik, it’s always a delight to follow her journey, both on and off-screen. Her recent foray into hyperbaric chamber therapy for health issues is truly fascinating, and I must admit, I find myself curious about the science behind it!

Actress Mayim Bialik, best known for her role in “The Big Bang Theory” from 2010 until 2019, recently disclosed that she’s experimenting with a novel medical approach to manage persistent health problems. She’s been sharing numerous images of this journey on Instagram.

It appears that Mayim Bialik is employing a hyperbaric chamber to manage inflammation and autoimmune problems, as stated in her post. She expresses gratitude towards the International Hyperbaric Association for assisting her in discovering this approach. The association itself posted on Instagram, celebrating Mayim Bialik’s decision to include hyperbaric oxygen therapy in her health regimen, stating that she will be utilizing hyperbarics over the coming months for personal health purposes.

For several years, Bialik has been transparent about her health challenges, recently disclosing that she battles Grave’s disease, a condition characterized by an overactive thyroid. Now, there’s curiosity surrounding the hyperbaric chamber – as explained by The Mayo Clinic, this therapy involves inhaling pure oxygen under increased pressure. This treatment can aid various conditions such as infections, gas bubbles within blood vessels, and wounds that fail to heal due to additional complications. By providing extra oxygen, it assists in combating bacteria and stimulates the release of healing agents like growth factors and stem cells.

Mayim Bialik played Amy Farrah Fowler for nine seasons of The Big Bang Theory

Supporters of “The Big Bang Theory” understand that Mayim Bialik’s character, Amy Farrah Fowler, didn’t join the cast from the start, but she soon became a crucial element in the show following her debut in Season 3. After Sheldon Cooper’s friends craft him a dating profile and match him with Amy, it becomes evident that these two intellectuals might be exceptionally well-matched; they share a strong dedication to their careers and aren’t actively seeking romantic involvement. Nevertheless, there’s an undeniable attraction between them, and this is further confirmed when Amy goes out on a date with comic book store owner Stuart (Kevin Sussman) in Season 5. Recognizing his feelings for her at that point, Sheldon acknowledges their relationship and they officially become a couple.

Despite their progress, Amy and Sheldon’s relationship doesn’t become smooth sailing from that point forward. While Sheldon shows little inclination towards physical intimacy, Amy grows increasingly eager for it with her boyfriend over the course of the show (unfortunately, this desire is often portrayed comically). However, things do take a turn for the better in the end – they get married at the end of the eleventh season, make time for physical intimacy (once a year), and even win a Nobel Prize together for their work on super asymmetry, as depicted in the series finale “The Stockholm Syndrome.” So, what has Bialik been doing since portraying Amy?

Following the conclusion of “The Big Bang Theory” in 2019, Mayim Bialik briefly starred in another CBS sitcom, “Call Me Kat,” which was produced by Chuck Lorre, also the head honcho of “TBBT,” and Jim Parsons. Regrettably, this series was terminated after three seasons in May of 2023. However, two years before “Call Me Kat” was canceled, Bialik made guest appearances on “Jeopardy!” in May of 2021. As the show looked for a permanent replacement following Alex Trebek’s passing, Bialik increasingly took on the role as a guest host on the long-running game show.

Beginning in July 2022, Bialik shared hosting responsibilities with Ken Jennings, a previous “Jeopardy!” champion and friend of Trebek. However, her tenure on the show ended prematurely due to the writers’ strike in 2023. As she backed the striking WGA writers, Bialik relinquished her hosting duties, handing over the job to Jennings. Eventually, in December of that year, she officially left the show for good. Apart from “Jeopardy!”, Bialik has been involved in creating, directing, and acting in the film “As They Made Us”. This production also starred Dianna Agron, Dustin Hoffman, Candice Bergen, and Mayim’s former “Big Bang Theory” castmate, Simon Helberg.

“The Big Bang Theory” is streaming on Max now.
