The Boys Casts Mason Dye as New Supe for Season 5 & Vought Rising

As a movie reviewer who’s spent decades immersed in the silver screen and small, I can confidently say that the upcoming Season 5 of The Boys and its spinoff Vought Rising are shaping up to be a veritable feast for fans of mature superhero antics!

As a diehard fan of gritty superhero stories, I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness at the prospect that Season 5 of “The Boys” might be our last hurrah with the anti-Supes task force. But fear not, the adult-oriented universe is far from over! Following the fifth and final season, we’ll dive into the origins of the nefarious Vought corporation in a spinoff series called “Vought Rising” featuring Aya Cash reprising her role as Stormfront and Jensen Ackles stepping back into Soldier Boy’s boots. But they won’t be the only familiar faces, as a brand-new Supers character has been roped in for both Season 5 of “The Boys” and its Vought-focused spinoff.

Entertainment Weekly exclusively announces that actor Mason Dye, known for his role in Stranger Things, is joining the universe of The Boys as a character named Bombsight. This character is one of the oldest active Supes, surpassed only by Stormfront and Soldier Boy who began their careers in the 1950s. Although Dye will initially appear as a guest star in Season 5 of The Boys, he is expected to have a significant recurring role in the prequel series Vought Rising. The specifics of his powers are yet to be revealed, but considering his character was previously hinted on a poster for Vought’s first superhero movie titled “Bombsight in The Curse of Fu Manchu,” it’s reasonable to assume that he has abilities related to explosives.

Beyond “Stranger Things”, Dye has also appeared in episodes of “Teen Wolf”, “Bosch”, and “The Goldbergs”. This actor has predominantly found success on television, but his upcoming roles in “The Boys” and its spinoff could be his most significant yet. Following his recurring antagonist role as Jason Carver on the popular Netflix series which ended in the fourth season, Dye is now set to star in Amazon’s adult-oriented superhero universe. Here’s hoping he portrays a more endearing character in “The Boys”, although it seems unlikely given past circumstances.

The Boys Prequel Spinoff is on the Way

Prepare for a journey back to the 1950s, an era where Vought International was just starting out and Stormfront, a secret Nazi superhero, was just kicking off her career. When Vought Rising was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con, series lead Aya Cash expressed her excitement about working with Jensen, saying “I can’t wait to be part of this project; I think it’s going to be amazing“. The actress starring in the prequel to The Boys has recently shared that production on Vought Rising is progressing positively.

I can hardly wait to reunite with that team once more! I’ve also gone through some scripts, and they are genuinely impressive.

Indeed, it’s worth noting that Vought Rising isn’t the only project expanding The Boys universe. Production for Gen V’s second season is ongoing following a brief halt due to the untimely demise of series star Chance Perdomo earlier this year. This series, highly praised by critics, will delve into events preceding the final season of its original show. Simultaneously, The Boys: Mexico featuring Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal is in development. So, the future of The Boys universe, both before and after its conclusion, is already mapped out. It’s just a question of when fans will get to explore more of their beloved mature-rated superhero world.
