The popular Amazon Prime series titled “The Boys” is preparing for its final chapter with season 5, and actor Antony Starr, known for his role as Homelander on the show, hints that viewers are in for a jaw-dropping finale. Inspired by the graphic novels of Garth Ennis, “The Boys” presents a world where superheroes have become common commodities, manipulated by American entertainment corporations and defense agencies. Throughout four seasons, we’ve witnessed the titular team, led by Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), battling against the arrogant ‘supes in their secret crusade. The climactic battle will unfold in season 5, bringing a long-awaited conclusion to this thrilling saga.
During an interview with Collider to discuss his latest film, G20, Antony Starr was queried about the ongoing production of The Boys’ final season. Although he didn’t disclose any plot details for Season 5, he mentioned that it seems fitting for the successful series to reach its conclusion, and fans will experience a mix of joy and astonishment with the ending. “It’s peculiar because although I adore the show, I don’t enjoy seeing things prolonged beyond their prime, so I’m content we’re wrapping up at [Season] 5,” Starr shared. “However, I cherish the show and the characters, so it’s a bittersweet experience.
Antony Starr spoke about his initial response to reading the Season 5 scripts for the first time. He assured fans that the concluding season would be packed with the violence, shocking turns, and the gritty elements that fans of The Boys have grown accustomed to. “The scripts… frankly, in classic The Boys style, I wasn’t expecting it,” Starr commented further.
As a devoted film enthusiast, I must confess that this series continually catches me off guard. Each time I believe I’ve predicted the plot twist, another one comes along, keeping me hooked. And just when I thought I knew where things were headed, the latest episode proved no exception. I find myself six episodes behind, yet to catch up with the finale. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that fans will be either left surprised or utterly shocked by the climax, depending on their sensitivity. What’s certain is that they’re in for an enthralling ride!
‘The Boys’ Season 5 Is Currently in Production
At present, filming for Season 5 is underway in Toronto, Canada. In the climax of Season 4, Billy Butcher succumbed to his deepest impulses and accepted the enigmatic power developing within him due to excessive Temp-V consumption. Although several storyline aspects are still shrouded in secrecy, series creator Eric Kripke has hinted that we will witness the long-anticipated confrontation between Homelander and Butcher, a clash that fans have eagerly been waiting for.
In addition to working on Season 5 of “The Boys,” Eric Kripke is also dedicating his time to Season 2 of “Gen V,” the college-based spin-off. The showrunner recently provided a substantial update about the second season. “Episodes are being edited, with music, sound effects, and visual effects currently in progress,” he shared on social media. “The first trailer is nearing completion. A release date for the trailer, along with an announcement, will be made soon. (I believe this season surpasses Season 1 and it will prove to be a worthwhile wait).” As of now, the release date for Season 2 of “Gen V” has not been officially announced.
