As a gaming enthusiast diving into the political realm, I’m eagerly anticipating the election night special of “The Daily Show.” This grand finale will encapsulate our extensive coverage of the 2024 campaign, featuring countless field segments and an entire week of episodes filmed in Chicago during the Democratic National Convention. Unfortunately, we had to abandon our plans to be in Milwaukee for the Republican Convention’s July events, following an unfortunate attempt on nominee Donald Trump’s life.

Elise Terrell, the supervising producer, shared with The Hollywood Reporter before the DNC that the change in the Democratic campaign, with Vice President Kamala Harris taking over from Joe Biden as the party’s top candidate, has brought a fresh energy to their show and its writers. “We were ready to go with our jokes,” she said. “We knew what we wanted to target, but of course, we always find new perspectives. However, this influx of fresh data, responses, and potential criticisms is simply a goldmine for us! It’s been incredibly enjoyable to explore all the various aspects that have emerged.
