Following numerous setbacks, John Abraham’s political thriller movie, The Diplomat, ultimately graced the cinema screens on Holi 2025. Contrary to early anticipation, Shivam Nair’s film exceeded the predictions of several viewers, even bringing a few to tears. In an exclusive conversation with TopMob, John Abraham shared insights about the anticipation surrounding The Diplomat, as the film was finally released following numerous postponements. The actor emphasized that when a movie is stored in the canisters (cans), only two individuals who believe in it and are invested in its creation at that moment are typically the director and the actor.

In this situation, both John and Shivam Nair found the movie sensible. However, the studio was the one that seemed to lose confidence in the project. To clarify, the actor from Vedaa mentioned, “When a studio views the film, it often circulates it among Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms as a way to reduce risk by offering it to an OTT channel. Some OTT channels declined The Diplomat because they didn’t find it impressive, and ultimately, they turned down the movie.

John acknowledged that studios may feel apprehensive and sometimes their fears are warranted. Yet, he proudly declared, “Contrary to the common belief, in the instance of The Diplomat, we managed to outsmart both the studios and the OTT platforms, as well as everyone else’s expectations. The unique aspect of The Diplomat lies in the fact that initial expectations were minimal. Starting from a base of zero, we’ve reached a remarkable 10, leaving people astonished with its brilliance.

In the same conversation, the newcomer to Jism shared that following the movie’s screening, numerous individuals expressed their belief that it deserved a National Film Award. He revealed, “This is the feedback I receive when they leave, and the greatest consensus and acknowledgment I get is when people say, ‘We applauded at the end.’ That’s truly heartwarming, and there’s no greater reward than that.
