Having worked alongside and admired Drew from afar, I can attest to her incredible talent, warmth, and infectious energy that truly sets her apart.

Great news awaits “The Drew Barrymore Show” as it prepares to debut its fifth season on September 9. The beloved daytime talk show has secured a long-term stay on CBS, with plans for improved time slots in multiple top 20 markets.

According to Variety, The Drew Barrymore Show has been extended for a sixth season, extending its run through the 2025-2026 season. This announcement precedes its fifth season premiere on September 9. Drew Barrymore will continue her second act in Hollywood during this new season. Moreover, the show will benefit from time period enhancements in seven of the top 20 markets where it airs, including the 9:00 AM slot following CBS Mornings in New York, Dallas, and Boston. Currently, it is outperforming the morning show by 21%. Wendy McMahon, CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Ventures, expressed her thoughts on the renewal:

In the face of adversity, The Drew Barrymore Show managed to carve out a path towards success, even though it started off on a bumpy note due to circumstances beyond its control. Launched during the pandemic, when live studio audiences were prohibited due to COVID-19 restrictions, this talk show took an innovative approach. Audiences were brought in virtually through a platform called Audience From Anywhere, and their images were displayed on a screen behind Barrymore to create a virtual audience experience. At that time, guests had the option of appearing either virtually or in person with Barrymore, but they had to maintain social distancing by sitting opposite the host.

As the series resumed for its second season, it welcomed a packed studio audience – this is when the show really found its stride and started gaining an audience. Additionally, during its third season, the show underwent a change in format, transforming into two half-hour segments that could either be aired consecutively or independently based on the market demands. One segment focused on Barrymore analyzing pop culture and lifestyle trends, while the other usually featured celebrity guests for interviews.

2023 saw a touch of controversy surrounding The Drew Barrymore Show as it resumed production during the Writers Guild of America Strike. Protesters picketed outside the studio, labeling Barrymore as a scab for continuing the show despite the strike. Facing public criticism, The Drew Barrymore Show decided to prolong its break and didn’t air again until the writers’ strike had ended.

In my excitement as a devoted fan, I’d like to share some thrilling news about “The Drew Barrymore Show.” It’s been drawing an impressive audience of approximately 1.1 million viewers, which is quite remarkable in the challenging landscape of daytime television today. Moreover, this outstanding performance has earned the show and Drew herself multiple Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host and Outstanding Talk Show Entertainment. Simply put, it’s a testament to Drew’s exceptional hosting skills!
