Summary
- Zenimax announced at the first-ever The Elder Scrolls Online Direct that the Worm Cult has returned and is hungry for revenge.
- Ten years after being defeated at the hands of the Vestige, they are gathering in Solstice, where the Writhing Wall has split the lush, Caribbean-inspired island in two.
- One half is a tropical paradise, the other ravaged by the necromancer’s corruption. As a community, we’ll band together to tear down this wall.
Over the last ten years, I’ve journeyed through eight epic chapters of The Elder Scrolls Online, from the fiery tundras of Vvardenfell to the opulent cities of the Summerset Isles, and the dragon-scarred deserts of Elsweyr – just a few breathtaking landscapes among many. However, Zenimax Online is changing its approach, moving towards a yearly, seasonal narrative style. To mark this transition, they’re heading back to where it all started for us gamers!
At The Elder Scrolls Online’s inaugural Direct, creative director Rich Lambert referred to the upcoming expansion as a “continuation of the storyline from the 2014 base game”. In Seasons of the Worm Cult, Mannimarco’s faithful brotherhood of necromancers will reemerge seeking retribution against the Vestige. This group, in conjunction with the Five Companions, had previously foiled their attempts to dominate Nirn.
In a forthcoming experiment involving a dozen individuals, we’ll be heading back to the chilly locale of Coldharbour for the purpose of annihilating a relic capable of converting agony into energy.
The narrative unfolds in June at an island south of Tamriel called Solstice Island, reminiscent of the Caribbean with a blend of Altmer and Argonian architecture that creates a distinctive setting. This tropical paradise boasts lush forests, pristine beaches, and a bustling city called Sunport on its coastline. A remarkable feature is the “Writhing Wall,” an imposing structure born from raw souls, dividing the region in two. Venture beyond this wall, you’ll find a desolate land ravaged by the Worm Cult’s corruption, contrasting starkly with the vibrant West Solstice.
The Community Will Have To Rally Together To Start The Second Half Of The Worm Cult’s Story In The Elder Scrolls Online
As a passionate player, I’m excited to share that The Writhing Wall is set to play a pivotal role in this year’s storyline. Our community will need to unite, pooling our strength to bring down this formidable barrier and reconnect the two halves of Solstice. Since this event is server-dependent, some of us might get early access to the other half of the zone, facing off against the Worm Cult’s seemingly endless horde in a thrilling final assault. This epic confrontation marks the beginning of the second part of the season and serves as a conclusion to this year’s intriguing narrative.
Additionally, we might encounter Argonian Behemoths bedecked with feathers, stone golems safeguarding ancient sanctuaries, and a novel kind of Daedra in our journey.
You will gain entry to the fresh storyline, zone, and two dungeon packs, as well as the Writhing Wall event when they become available by acquiring the 2025 Content Pass. Purchasing it prior to May 7 will also grant you a new mount, pet, emote collection, and exclusive time-limited custom action.
