The Flash Movie Fan Trailer Gives Grant Gustin’s Hero a New Ending

As a long-time fan who’s been racing through the highs and lows of The Flash since its debut, I can’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment with the series’ final sprint. It was an exhilarating journey, filled with twists and turns that kept us on the edge of our seats (or couches, as it were). But when the dust settled, I couldn’t shake off the feeling that we could have crossed the finish line together in a more spectacular fashion.

The Flash ended with its ninth season in mid-2023, but not everyone loved the CW’s final farewell for Grant Gustin’s hero. Truthfully, there is only so much a small-screen adaptation can do to create a faithful version of the Flash, and yet it felt like there was a better conclusion out here somewhere. To answer that question, a diehard fan of The Flash has reimagined a new ending for the beloved Scarlet Speedster, one that gives Gustin a chance to shine on the big screen.

It’s not unusual to see fans producing trailers that incorporate The CW’s Flash and related content, and there are some truly impressive ones available online. However, the latest one, titled “Final Run”, stands out because it offers a tantalizing peek at what might have been – a direction that, in my opinion, would have been ideal, given that Ezra Miller’s The Flash didn’t quite live up to expectations. In this trailer, YouTuber Julian Bell skillfully integrates beloved characters and sets the stage for an epic conclusion for The Flash.

The revised video clip hints at an updated version of the “Flashpoint timeline,” freshening up the brief narrative from Season 3 of “The Flash.” Additionally, it includes brief appearances by other superheroes, such as Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman who will star in the final season of “Superman & Lois” this autumn.

The Flash Gets One Final Run

Despite wrapping up with a ninth season, The Flash didn’t fully tie up all the loose ends and provided hasty resolutions to some of its most pressing questions. Although Reverse Flash was finally vanquished permanently, granting Barry Allen a triumph fans had anticipated for a decade, other villains were disposed of too swiftly, leaving their fates unexplained. Moreover, Barry’s sudden disappearance lacked sufficient explanation. All in all, the ending wasn’t terrible, but it could have been more satisfying given the complex relationship viewers had with the show.

It was disappointing that the finale for The Flash series didn’t live up to the expectations longtime fans had built over the years. Arrow had a satisfying conclusion after launching the Arrowverse, but some argue that The Flash had run its course in recent seasons and outstayed its welcome. Regardless of the number of episodes produced, wrapping up Grant Gustin’s journey as the speedster on the big screen would have been more fulfilling. The show often felt constrained by having to accommodate the CG-heavy nature of his powers and villains, but a film (or even a TV movie) could have realized fans’ dreams.

2023’s The Flash is by no means poor; it’s simply challenging to recreate the sense of familiarity that comes from following Gustin’s portrayal of the character over an extended period.
