The God-like Roguelike Hades 2 Launches Exclusively On Nintendo Switch 2

Supergiant Games’ highly-acclaimed, divine-themed sequel to the hit roguelike game Hades, titled Hades II, will debut initially on the successor of the Nintendo Switch following its exit from Early Access.

Ever since its release, Hades has felt right at home on the Nintendo Switch, and Supergiant Games have been faithful to this console. The original game, after a lengthy stay in Early Access on PC, was also introduced on the Nintendo Switch at its launch in May 2024. Now, they plan to follow the same path with Hades II, debuting it first on the Nintendo Switch 2 as soon as the game is fully developed.

The game from Supergiant won’t be ready when the new console launches; they’re still working on perfecting it. During its Early Access phase, some story elements are incomplete, but due to the abundance of content it provides, it already feels like a comprehensive experience.

In the second installment, Hades II, rather than following Zagreus as he battles his father, the ruler of the underworld, the storyline changes direction. This time, players assume control over Zagreus’ sister, Melinoe, embarking on a mission for revenge against the Titan of Time, Chronos.

As the storyline shifts, Hades II preserves the most engaging aspects from its predecessor and further develops them. For an Early Access game, it boasts over a thousand spoken lines, with an anticipated additional thousand by the time of its final release. Remarkably, even after investing 200 hours in the Early Access version, players seldom experience repetitive dialogue.

As of now, there hasn’t been an announced release date for Hades II on the Nintendo Switch 2 or when it will fully leave Early Access. However, it has been confirmed that Hades II will also be playable on the original Nintendo Switch. In the meantime, PC gamers can embark on Melinoe’s adventure before its wider launch.
