The Hollywood Reporter Names Ada Guerin as Creative Director and Tony Maglio as Television Editor

On Tuesday, it was revealed that The Hollywood Reporter has strengthened its editorial team with the arrival of two influential figures: Ada Guerin in the role of creative director and Tony Maglio as the new television editor.

Guerin, a seasoned and acclaimed creative leader across various disciplines with over two decades under her belt, is set to manage the aesthetic and tone of numerous editorial assets for the brand. These assets encompass our weekly magazine, special award editions, online platform, video content, and social media channels. She will be stationed in Los Angeles.

Maglio, a well-regarded television news professional, will manage THR’s television reporting throughout their entire range of topics. His office will be located in New York City.

Recently, Guerin served as the creative director at “Los Angeles Magazine,” where she revamped the magazine’s visual identity by creating notable editorial collections. Prior to this role, Guerin held the position of creative director at “TheWrap” for nine years. During her tenure, she oversaw two significant redesigns of the brand and website, which led to a substantial increase (over 200%) in social media reach. These improvements also helped “TheWrap” win the title of best entertainment website at the National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards. Guerin has also applied her creative skills to specialized and luxury publications such as “Robb Report’s Motorcycling” and “429.” Furthermore, aside from her design work, Guerin has been a radio personality for “Westwood One.

15 years after parting ways with The Hollywood Reporter, Guerin expressed that returning now feels like embarking on an exciting new chapter of Hollywood narratives. Under the visionary guidance of Shirley Halperin and Maer Roshan, THR has become a shrewd, energetic, and innovative powerhouse. Earlier, Maglio served as the executive editor handling news and business at IndieWire. Now, he will focus on covering the business and news aspects of the TV industry for The Hollywood Reporter.

Maglio has worked as a freelancer for “Weekend Update” on Saturday Night Live, along with other shows. Following his graduation from Columbia University’s School of Journalism, he landed an internship at the Hollywood trade publication TheWrap, eventually moving up from intern to TV editor. In 2022, IndieWire brought Maglio aboard to establish a new business section as executive editor, and subsequently took on managing the news section of their website as well.
