Without a doubt, the beloved female characters, or “waifus,” are propelling the Overwatch series forward, and Blizzard is preparing to add a fresh one to the roster with the arrival of Hero Freja.
In Season 16, the character will make her debut, but she’ll only be accessible for a brief period towards the end of this month. Notably, the developers have released a hero trailer highlighting this ethically questionable bounty hunter.
The Hunt Begins
In the brief trailer for “The Hunt Begins“, Freja steals the limelight, highlighting her position on the moral compass within the universe of “Overwatch“. Have a look at it here:
“Next time you want to cross the coldest bounty hunter in the business, think again.
Watch as events unfold when Freja’s current assignment with Maximilien deviates from its intended course in the freshly released Hero Trailer titled ‘The Hunt Begins.’
It appears that Freja isn’t tied to any particular organization such as Talon or Deadlock Gang like Sombra and Ashe are. Instead, she seems to be a freelancer, taking jobs from whoever offers the best deal.
What are Freja’s Abilities?
In the trailer, Freja’s skills are clearly displayed. Her primary weapon is a futuristic crossbow, capable of firing explosive ammunition upon impact.
In addition, Freja possesses agility and swiftness, enabling her to nimbly dart past her adversaries and eliminate them with her crossbow. Her ultimate move is known as ‘Bola Shot’, which reels in enemies towards the one struck—followed by an explosion causing substantial harm.
Freja is labeled as a destructive character, meaning she doesn’t offer supportive skills. However, due to her excellent mobility, she appears quite entertaining to play. Yet, players eagerly anticipate the development of effective strategies by professional gamers to optimally utilize her in-game.
Let the Showdown Begin

Since Marvel Rivals debuted last December, it has been the hot topic among hero shooter enthusiasts. Ever since then, Blizzard has been scrambling to keep up with the demand. Apart from hinting at the arrival of a new hero named Freja, they’ve also introduced changes to the core gameplay like perks. The popular lootbox feature returned, and there’s a strong likelihood that 6v6 will become a permanent part of the game.
Currently, certain enthusiasts are undecided about who will eventually lead in popularity throughout the year, but without a doubt, Overwatch and Marvel Rivals have been consistently among the most watched games on Twitch during the last few months.
Although many consider Rivals as an “Overwatch Killer,” some devoted fans believe that Blizzard still has plenty up its sleeve with its original hero shooter. The emergence of a strong competitor like MR merely fuels the developers to create even more engaging content.
As a devoted gamer, I’ve been eagerly waiting for quite some time now. I really hope that the developers over at Blizzard haven’t abandoned the idea of delivering the PvE content we’ve all been anticipating for years. Fingers crossed!
On March 21st through the 24th, you’ll have the opportunity to play with Freja for a brief period. It’s anticipated that she will make her appearance within “Overwatch 2” during Season 16, which is set to start on April 22nd.
