The Legal Move Julie Chrisley Just Made After Hitting Setback In Her Resentencing Hearing

As a die-hard Chrisley Knows Best fan, I’ve been following Julie Chrisley’s legal journey with bated breath. The latest turn of events has left me feeling a mix of disappointment and hope. It’s disheartening to see her original seven-year sentence being reinstated after the initial conviction was overturned. However, I have faith in justice and the judicial system.

Julie Chrisley’s resentencing hearing in September brought disappointment instead of relief. Following her acquittal in June, her legal team anticipated a reduced prison sentence for her bank fraud case. However, the outcome of the hearing saw her initial seven-year sentence reinstated, as requested by prosecutors. Moreover, her probation period was extended from three to five years. Recently, weeks after the court’s decision, Mrs. Chrisley has taken another legal step.

Earlier this week, it was made official that Julie Chrisley has submitted an appeal to reinstate her initial sentence. According to WSB-TV 2, the necessary documents were submitted to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals – the same court that granted her early release this past summer. The media outlet describes this as a succinct filing, detailing Chrisley and her legal team’s reasons for appealing the decision. At the moment, Chrisley’s lawyers have not commented on this new approach in public.

Despite the circumstances mentioned earlier, Jay Surgent, one of the Chrisley family’s lawyers, has been advocating for Julie Chrisley since her recent sentencing hearing. He criticized the court’s decision as unreasonable and harsh, suggesting that Julie was being singled out due to her celebrity status. In a recent statement, Surgent also shared his plans for Julie’s case, mentioning an upcoming appeal and expressing hope alongside Julie’s daughter, Savannah.

In 2022, Julie Chrisley received a seven-year prison sentence and began serving it at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky by early 2023. Simultaneously, Todd Chrisley has been imprisoned at a Federal Prison Camp located in Florida, where he’s currently serving a 12-year term. Their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, asserted that her parents are enduring subpar living conditions and even accused Julie of having snakes in her living quarters on a podcast.

How Todd Chrisley Is Reportedly Feeling After Wife Julie Hit Setback At Her Resentencing Hearing

In summer this year, the seven-year sentence for Mrs. Chrisley was reversed due to the court finding insufficient evidence that she knew about the crimes committed in the case. As a result, a new sentencing hearing was scheduled. Prior to this, there was a flurry of drama as it became unclear if Mrs. Chrisley was under the supervision of The Federal Bureau of Prisons. It was later revealed that she was actually in the care of the U.S. Marshals prior to her hearing.

Prior to the re-sentencing of the star on “Chrisley Knows Best”, those close to her were hopeful that she might be released earlier, with Jay Surgent anticipating her return home as early as spring or summer. However, Savannah Chrisley had a different timeline in mind, expressing her intention for her mother to be home by Thanksgiving this year, as stated on “Unlocked”.

The outcome of Julie Chrisley’s current situation isn’t certain yet, but given her recent court action, we can speculate that the appeal will be reviewed and the process will continue from there. However, the duration of this process is uncertain at the moment.
