As a die-hard fan of The Lincoln Lawyer and a connoisseur of legal dramas, I must say that the third season left me yearning for more Maggie McPherson. The lack of her presence was palpable, but now, after the dramatic finale, I can sense a tantalizing comeback in Season 4 if it gets greenlit.
Beware! Here come spoilers about the finale of The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3. If you haven’t watched it all yet, you can catch up by subscribing to Netflix and streaming the show.
In the lineup for Netflix in 2024, Season 3 of The Lincoln Lawyer was released, and I found myself taken aback by the reduced presence of Maggie this season. Though she made appearances, mostly Mickey and Maggie were pursuing their separate lives, which is understandable. However, with the climax of the final episode, it appears that Neve Campbell‘s character could take on a more significant role in Season 4 if it gets renewed. Therefore, I inquired about this possibility from one of the series’ co-showrunners.
Throughout the most recent season of The Lincoln Lawyer, Mickey seemed to spend minimal time with Maggie or his daughter. Given that he’s been arrested now, I found myself pondering how this might influence his relationship with his former wife as we move into Season 4. During a conversation with co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez after finishing the Netflix series, I inquired if we could expect more of Neve Campbell in whatever follows, and here’s her response:
Should Season 4 materialize, our anticipation runs high as we ponder Mickey’s struggle for his innocence. It seems only natural that Maggie would stand by his side in this battle, lending her support. To preserve the surprise, I won’t reveal more details – those are plot points we’ve been developing already.
Given my deep-rooted interest in the legal world, I can’t help but feel a surge of anticipation knowing that Maggie McPherson, a seasoned prosecutor, is now part of Mickey’s case. After all, with him behind bars, it seems only fitting that she would lend her expertise to this intriguing situation.
As a devoted fan, I’m optimistic that Season 4 will be adapted from “The Law of Innocence.” This novel delves into the life of Mickey who finds himself wrongfully imprisoned for a murder he didn’t commit. Given Rodriguez’s remarks and Maggie’s unwavering support for her former spouse, it seems plausible that she’ll stand by Mickey, believing in his innocence, and tirelessly work to safeguard him.
The theory became even clearer in my thoughts when the co-showrunner concluded her remarks about Campbell’s character by saying this:
She’s pivotal. Let’s just say that she’s pivotal to his life and his defense in a Season 4.

Although I’m deeply affected by Eddie’s character’s demise in “The Lincoln Lawyer”, I can’t help but concur with the showrunner’s perspective on how effectively they handled that storyline.
Admittedly, I haven’t delved into the books yet, so I can’t speak to Maggie’s character or role within them. But being a dedicated fan of Neve Campbell and an advocate for Maggie, I eagerly anticipate that she might leverage her position to aid in proving Mickey’s innocence. Furthermore, it will be intriguing to observe how this case may alter her professional life as a prosecutor.
It seems likely that Neve Campbell will have a significant role in The Lincoln Lawyer if a fourth season is produced. Fingers crossed that this happens so we can enjoy the Scream actress gracing our television screens again soon!
All this is to say, hopefully, Maggie comes back in a big way, just like Campbell’s return as Sidney in Scream 7. I want her front, center and right next to Mickey as he fights for his innocence. Thankfully, it sounds like that will happen too — as long as The Lincoln Lawyer gets renewed for a fourth season.
