As per Deadline’s report, Bill Lawrence – the creator and executive producer of Scrubs – has agreed to work on a reboot/revival of this series for ABC. This was the primary obstacle preventing the project’s launch, as Lawrence had an existing contract with Apple TV+ where he produced shows like Ted Lasso and Shrinking. However, unlike the original show, Lawrence will not assume the role of showrunner in the new Scrubs version.
After confirming Lawrence’s participation in “Scrubs 2.0,” production is now gearing up to invite back Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, and John C. McGinley, who portrayed John “J.D.” Dorian, Christopher Turk, Elliot Reid, and Perry Cox respectively. The report also hints at Judy Reyes, known for her role as Carla Espinosa, being a key part of the reboot’s initial planning.
