The Long-Discussed Scrubs Reboot Just Took A Major Step Forward, And This News Makes Me Want To Do An Eagle

As a dedicated Scrubs fan who’s spent countless hours laughing at the antics of J.D., Turk, Elliot, and the gang at Sacred Heart Hospital, this news has my heart racing faster than Carla on her morning coffee! After all these years, it seems that the long-awaited reboot is finally taking shape, thanks to Bill Lawrence’s commitment to the project.

In approximately half a year, we’ll reach the 15th anniversary since the conclusion of Scrubs after nine seasons. However, if you share my sentiment, you might see Season 8’s “My Finale” as the actual series finale. Despite this, there have been ongoing discussions about rebooting what many regard as one of the greatest sitcoms ever made, and today we hear that the revival project has made significant progress. This news has me feeling like JD and Turk preparing for an Eagle – anyone up for it?

As per Deadline’s report, Bill Lawrence – the creator and executive producer of Scrubs – has agreed to work on a reboot/revival of this series for ABC. This was the primary obstacle preventing the project’s launch, as Lawrence had an existing contract with Apple TV+ where he produced shows like Ted Lasso and Shrinking. However, unlike the original show, Lawrence will not assume the role of showrunner in the new Scrubs version.

After confirming Lawrence’s participation in “Scrubs 2.0,” production is now gearing up to invite back Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, and John C. McGinley, who portrayed John “J.D.” Dorian, Christopher Turk, Elliot Reid, and Perry Cox respectively. The report also hints at Judy Reyes, known for her role as Carla Espinosa, being a key part of the reboot’s initial planning. Despite her current commitment to “High Potential,” sources suggest that she might juggle both shows if it becomes feasible.

More to come…
