The Pokemon Company unveiled numerous major updates for their franchise, among them being the upcoming main “Pokemon” game titled, “Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

In this exciting tale, I find myself immersed within the vibrant cityscape of Lumiose – a remarkable world where both humans and Pokémon coexist harmoniously. As the protagonist, I’m not alone in my journey; an array of fresh faces join me as we unravel the storyline together.

So, who are the main players in Pokemon Legends: Z-A?

The primary character in the game is undeniably the player, who has the option to select either a male or female digital representation within the game, offered by Z-A.

Characters within the game can be personalized with various appearances, yet it’s important to mention that the lead character possesses a unique artifact known as the Key Stone. When this is combined with a Mega Stone carried by a Pokemon, it triggers the Mega Evolution, transforming the Pokemon into a new form and bestowing them with distinct abilities.

In the games of Pokemon, there’s usually a character that the player competes against, similar to how Ash battles Gary in the series. However, in Z-A, instead of a rival, you’ll have a friend who engages in battles with you.

Based on their selected character, the game introduces them to either Urbain or Taunie. It isn’t explicitly stated whether these characters are distinct individuals or simply gender-swapped versions of the same person, but for the duration of their stay at Hotel Z within Lumiose, Urbain/Taunie will be the ones they interact with.

It’s not uncommon for Pokemon to feature characters who resemble each other, such as Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny. So, it’s possible that Urbain and Taunie could just be two distinct individuals.

A character previously seen in Pokemon X and Y, AZ, is now an ancient wanderer who governed the Kalos region centuries ago. Currently, he manages Hotel Z.

As a devoted fan, I find him playing the role of a wise guide, much like Professor Oak in our beloved games. He’s particularly bonded with a unique Pokémon named Floette, whose past is tinged with sorrow, mirroring that of AZ. That’s why the flower she carries is dark, contrasting with the lighter blooms other Floettas typically hold.

In any Pokemon game, it’s essential to have a villainous group in control, and that role falls to Jett as the CEO of Quasartico Inc. This substantial corporation essentially governs the city of Lumiose. At this point, not much is known about Jett, but players can anticipate encountering her frequently throughout the game.

Vinnie can be seen as Jett’s secretary, though it seems more probable that he serves as her bodyguard. He is also part of the group known as Quasartico. At present, not much is disclosed about him. However, given the nature of anime antagonists, players might need to confront Vinnie if they plan to challenge Jett. It’s worth noting that it remains uncertain whether Jett and Vinnie are villains; nevertheless, considering this is Pokemon, it’s common for large corporations to be portrayed as evil, much like in reality.

Characters from the game that players might encounter are numerous, however, at this point, it appears the primary characters highlighted are those critical to the storyline of Z-A.

It’s anticipated that “Pokémon Legends: Z-A” will be released for the Nintendo Switch later in the year, possibly coinciding with the release of the Switch 2.
