The Neighborhood Is Ending, But Star Beth Behrs Is Way Happier About It Than What Happened With 2 Broke Girls

CBS, known for keeping shows running longer than many other networks and streaming platforms, has recently experienced an unexpected shift in strategy. The cancellations of spinoffs for FBI and S.W.A.T. (in its third iteration) were surprising. Shortly after, it was announced that the end is near for its long-running sitcom, The Neighborhood, though this won’t happen during the currently airing seventh season.

Instead, CBS execs announced that the Monday night staple was renewed for its eighth and final season, to arrive later on the 2025 TV schedule. The creative team has more than enough time to find the perfect ending for the Butler and Johnson families. And in sharing the bittersweet news with her followers on Instagram, star Beth Behrs said that’s precisely the reason why she’s happier about The Neighborhood’s fate compared to how things went down when 2 Broke Girls was axed. In her words:

In my twenties, I spent most of the time on the set of #2BrokeGirls, while almost all of my thirties were on #TheNeighborhood. As we conclude our story, I’ll welcome my forties. It’s been a while since @katdenningsss and I had a proper farewell or conclusion for our time on #2BrokeGirls, but I’m extremely thankful to @cbstv for allowing me the opportunity to bid GEMMA goodbye in an appropriate manner.

Interestingly enough, it seems Beth Behrs may have been subtly criticizing the same studio she had praised earlier, as CBS was the network that sparked a lot of resentment back in 2017. During this time, the sixth season of ‘2 Broke Girls’ was ongoing, and there was a strong belief among the creative team and cast that renewal news was imminent. Consequently, they didn’t make any attempts to wrap up Beth Behrs’ Caroline and Kat Dennings’ Max’s storylines formally.

Contrary to expectations for a continuation following a summer break, reports emerged suggesting the network was trying to take control of the series, which saw ratings decline in later seasons. With CBS already juggling numerous shows to accommodate into their upcoming autumn schedule, the comedy was abruptly canceled.

Discussions about a revival or sequel TV film have taken place, yet nothing definitive has materialized so far. However, it’s worth noting that Behrs is currently working on the final season of The Neighborhood, and if that wraps up, there might be new developments. But for now, we should keep in mind that her previous co-star Kat Dennings is occupied with Tim Allen on ABC’s Shifting Gears, which looks set for a long run.

Despite not dwelling on the end of “2 Broke Girls,” Behrs had plenty to rejoice about, sharing moments with her co-stars Max Greenfield, Cedric the Entertainer, Tichina Arnold, and many others. In her post, she went on to express:

Over the past 7 years with my @theneighborhood team has been some of the most unforgettable moments in my life. We managed to weather through Covid, strikes, elections… and emerged even stronger. My deepest gratitude goes out to our entire cast and crew- let’s aim for the best season ever! #SEASON8 Let’s do this!

Many supporters added heartwarming and motivational remarks, and it’s likely that Kat Dennings herself, as well as other prominent figures in television, echoed this optimistic sentiment too.

  • KAT DENNINGS: WOOOO!!! Go Beth!!!!
  • NICHELLE TURNER: Love you Beth! ❤️ You all are THE BEST!
  • MELISSA PETERMAN: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
  • ANGELIQUE CABRAL: Bawling 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
  • JO KOY: You are amazing. Congratulations on 8 beautiful seasons
