CBS is preparing to move out of The Neighborhood — but not for a while.
The comedy series starring Cedric the Entertainer, previously known as “Network’s Comedy Show,” has been revived for a new season in 2025-26, marking its eighth installment. However, this will be the show’s last season before it concludes.
Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, praised the talented cast and crew at ‘The Neighborhood’, headed by the remarkable Cedric the Entertainer, for providing humor, laughter, and thoughtful narratives every Monday night over seven fantastic seasons. ‘The Neighborhood’ has consistently been a top-rated show on CBS and one of the best comedies on television. Given its dedicated fanbase, we feel it’s only fitting to give the series a final season filled with the signature humor and emotional scenes that define the show.
As a devoted viewer myself, I’m thrilled to share that “The Neighborhood” holds the title for CBS’ longest-running active comedy series, boasting an impressive count of 128 episodes. This season alone, it has managed to captivate over 6.4 million viewers across all platforms – a testament to its enduring appeal and the five weeks of engagement it has garnered.
Besides Cedric the Entertainer, the cast also includes Max Greenfield, Beth Behrs, Tichina Arnold, Sheaun McKinney, Marcel Spears, and Skye Townsend.
As “The Neighborhood” comes to an end, its universe continues to thrive. A new series titled “Crutch“, featuring Tracy Morgan, is slated for streaming on Paramount+, and there’s a possibility that a CBS spinoff centered around McKinney’s and Spears’ characters will be introduced as a pilot episode towards the end of the current season.
As a devoted fan, I’d like to share that I’m thrilled to be associated with CBS Studios, the brilliant minds behind the hit show, “The Neighborhood.” Alongside industry veterans Bill Martin, Mike Schiff, Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling, and the exceptionally talented Cedric the Entertainer, Eric Rhone, this production team has crafted a show that’s become a favorite in my TV rotation.
Keep track of all the network renewals and cancellations with THR’s broadcast scorecard.
