The New Bridget Jones Movie Has Wrapped, See The Studio’s Celebratory Post

As a gamer with over two decades of rom-com viewing under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming Bridget Jones movie is like the much-anticipated expansion pack to my favorite game – it’s been too long since we’ve had an update! The return of Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant, and Emma Thompson is like leveling up with some old friends.

Nearly two decades since the premiere of “Bridget Jones’s Diary,” it remains one of the most exceptional romantic comedies ever made. Thus, we were elated when news broke a few months ago that another book from Helen Fielding’s series was being turned into a movie! With anticipation building, the rom-com is now slated for release in 2025. The production team has completed filming, and they are currently celebrating their achievement.

Working Title Productions, famous for the amusing “Bridget Jones” film series, posted an exhilarating snapshot on Twitter yesterday, signaling the completion of filming. Check it out below:

Wow, isn’t this thrilling? The post showcases an image seemingly of Renée Zellweger’s set chair alongside some monitors from the filming location of the upcoming Bridget Jones movie. The production team hinted that we can catch a glimpse of their work on Valentine’s Day. What a fitting date to revisit the love life of our cherished British character, who is based on Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice novel.

Previously mentioned, Renee Zellweger will portray Bridget Jones for the fourth film, based on Helen Fielding’s 2013 novel “Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy.” This installment marks Hugh Grant’s return as Daniel Cleaver since his appearance in “Edge of Reason” from 2004. Initially, Grant declined participation for the third film, “Bridget Jones’s Baby,” but this time around, things are different. Notably, the final scene of the 2016 movie revealed Bridget discovering that Daniel is still alive.

In this upcoming film series, Emma Thompson will once again play Dr. Rawlings (from the third movie). Newcomers Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for “One Day” and “White Lotus,” as well as Leo Woodall, will join the cast. Unfortunately, Colin Firth is not expected to reappear in the series. As readers of the original book may recall, Mark Darcy dies tragically in the “Mad About The Boy” novel. However, there’s a chance we might see Firth in the movie somehow, as he has previously declined and then agreed to be part of a Bridget Jones film. So, let’s keep our fingers crossed!

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled about the upcoming adaptation of “Mad About The Boy”! This time around, our beloved Bridget, now a 51-year-old single mother and widow, finds herself in a new chapter – navigating a romantic entanglement with a younger man. And guess who might be bringing this character to life? None other than the talented Tom Hollander!

Sadly, American viewers must wait until February 14th as the new Bridget Jones movie is exclusive to Peacock subscribers. In contrast, international fans get to watch it in cinemas. Still, we’re excited about this movie!

In my gaming world, witnessing Bridget and Daniel’s reunion in “Mad About The Boy” has me jotting down a fresh resolution for 2025 – it’s like adding an exciting new level to my life!
