This week, Nike Basketball and Kevin Durant will unveil their eighteenth collaboration, the Nike KD 18, which will be part of a nine-shoe exclusive collection known as the “Black Label”. However, they also seem to be looking back, with additional colorways of the KD 4 on the horizon. The design of the KD 4 was reintroduced last year, and since then, several popular color schemes have been brought back.
Joining the expanding collection of KD 4 reissues, SneakerMarketRO has disclosed a fresh report hinting that the “Gold Medal” colorway from 2012 will be making a return this year. This USA-themed sneaker honored Kevin Durant’s first Olympic gold medal in 2012 and is now set to honor his fourth consecutive gold medal, following his victory at last year’s Summer Olympics in Paris. Although we haven’t seen a preview of the new colorway design for this year, it’s expected to retain its gold, red, and blue color scheme.
As I type now, there’s no confirmation from Nike Basketball that the KD 4 “Gold Medal” will make its comeback in the current year. Keep an eye out for announcements, including a sneak peek at the shoes, as we anticipate them to hit stores around autumn via Nike SNKRS and select retailers. The initial price is projected to be $130 USD.
