‘The Penguin’ Brings Crime-Ridden Trailer to Comic-Con

As a devoted fan of both Colin Farrell and the DC Universe, I can’t help but be in awe of the dedication and transformation the talented actor underwent to bring Oz Cobblepot, aka The Penguin, to life on HBO’s upcoming series. Having endured a grueling 3 1/2 hour makeup process every day, Farrell truly embodies the saying, “No pain, no gain.”

Only a few TV actors have had to go through as much to prepare for their roles as Colin Farrell, the attractive leading man, who spent over three and a half hours each day having makeup applied to become the unrecognizable Oz Cobb in “The Penguin.”

After investing countless hours in makeup sessions, the time has come for the fruits of our labor to be showcased at San Diego Comic-Con, during a coveted Saturday slot. HBO unveiled a fresh trailer for the upcoming series at the convention, which will make its debut on HBO and Max on September 19. The audience at Comic-Con responded with thunderous applause upon viewing the preview. Originally planned as an exclusive Max production, the show was later moved under the HBO banner – meaning it will air on cable TV and also be available for streaming on Max – as part of a new branding and strategic initiative.

In the 2022 blockbuster “The Batman,” featuring Robert Pattinson in the title role, the storyline broadens with the emergence of Oz Cobb as the new criminal mastermind, also known as The Penguin, who seizes control of Gotham’s underworld.

The following individuals joined the discussion remotely, along with Farrell: Cristin Milioti (as Sofia Falcone), Rhenzy Feliz (portraying Victor Aguilar), executive producer Reeves, showrunner Lauren LeFranc, and executive producer Dylan Clark.

Regarding the upcoming projects, “The Batman II” from Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, helmed by Matt Reeves, is scheduled for release in 2026. It’s worth mentioning that there might be additional TV shows based in this same universe. James Gunn and Peter Safran oversee the new arm of these studios. Additionally, 6th & Idaho Productions and Dylan Clark Productions are involved in this production. The cast includes Michael Kelly as Johnny Viti, Shohreh Aghdashloo as Nadia Maroni, Deirdre O’Connell as Francis Cobb, Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, James Madio as Milos Grapa, Scott Cohen as Luca Falcone, Michael Zegen as Alberto Falcone, Carmen Ejogo as Eve Karlo, and Theo Rossi as Dr. Julian Rush.
