Warning: SPOILERS for the Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 finale are ahead!
The series “Daredevil: Born Again” concluded its broadcast in the 2025 television schedule, but fear not! Unlike some other Marvel TV shows that only last for a single season, “Born Again” Season 2 has been officially confirmed to air in March 2026. To sweeten the deal, Jon Bernthal will reappear as Frank Castle in a Punisher special slated for release next year. Having watched the finale of “Born Again” Season 1 with my Disney+ subscription, I’ve already formed an idea about how Frank’s solo project will connect to the upcoming season of Matt Murdock’s TV show.
After a six-year hiatus from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Bernthal’s character, Frank, had a chance to show off in “Straight to Hell.” A call from Karen Page prompted Frank to join forces with Matt Murdock to combat the Anti-Vigilante Task Force (AVTF) agents who were dispatched to kill Matt at his residence. However, acting impulsively, Frank decided to take the battle to Red Hook on his own and was subsequently captured and jailed alongside Wilson Fisk’s adversaries. In the final scene of “Born Again” Season 1’s credits, Frank cleverly manipulated one of the guards into getting too near him, resulting in a broken arm for the guard, paving the way for Frank’s escape.

From this point forward with The Punisher, it’s unlikely that Jon Bernthal will only appear as Frank Castle in the Disney+ special. Given his character’s mission to eradicate all vigilantes in New York City, it’s safe to assume he’ll order the AVTF to track down and either capture or eliminate Frank. Until there’s a change of plans, I’m guessing Bernthal will return for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. Additionally, I believe the special might be launched prior to Season 2.
With these points in mind, I’m eager to watch a special episode featuring Frank Castle, the Punisher, preparing an armory aimed at Wilson Fisk and the AVTF. It seemed like he lacked an abundance of weapons at the hideout where he sheltered Matt and Karen, and even if there were hidden guns, he could benefit from additional firepower. Remember, we’re discussing the Punisher here – a man who takes great pleasure in eliminating wrongdoers with extreme force.
In a different phrasing, Charlie Cox humorously implies that although Jon Bernthal’s nose might never have been broken by him, he did endure some severe beatings from “The Punisher.
What’s the reason behind Daredevil being more acrobatic in the comic “Born Again” compared to the Netflix series? The original producer shared an explanation that seems logical.
Born Again”:
Perhaps we could explore a scenario where Frank, instead of raiding an armory guarded by AFTV officers or stealing guns from criminal operations in New York City (also known as the Big Apple), decides to acquire a large number of weapons. Once he has a substantial arsenal, he might engage in guerrilla warfare against both the AVTF and any criminals who come across his path. To ensure that readers not familiar with the series can still follow along easily, we should present this story in a way that’s easy to understand and doesn’t rely on specific knowledge of the show.
Given that this matter is properly resolved, the upcoming season 2 of “Born Again” could pave the way for Frank Castle’s return. With an abundance of weapons at his disposal, he can reunite with Matt Murdock and their allies to ultimately bring down Mayor Wilson Fisk’s regime. Afterward, Frank and Matt might part ways once more, with hopes that Frank will get another season and Matt will reappear in “Born Again” season 3.
I’m not particularly fond of The Punisher character, but I appreciated how he was portrayed in the original Daredevil series and found his spinoff series enjoyable. Therefore, I’m excited to see Jon Bernthal reprise the role, and my excitement would be even greater if my idea for a special and Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again came to fruition.
