Additionally, two other actors briefly take on the role during this season, with one potentially reprising it before the end of season 3. While Lowden’s initial portrayal as Sauron received much acclaim when “The Rings of Power” season 2 debuted, these later interpretations didn’t receive as much attention. During a one-on-one fight with Galadriel, Sauron employs shape-shifting to unsettle her. Transforming into Halbrand initially, he subsequently morphs into Galadriel herself, then Celebrimbor. This allows Clark and Edwards an exciting opportunity to bring the “Lord of the Rings” villain to life, offering a refreshing twist in their roles.

In this scene, Clark and Edwards convincingly embody their respective characters. Yet, it’s even more remarkable since they skillfully portray Sauron’s traits, making a notable distinction between their initial roles and the villain’s imitation. Conversely, Clark will reappear as Galadriel in season 3 of the series, and it would be fascinating if she attempts to portray Sauron again.

It Would Be Fun To See The Galadriel Star In A Different Light

One fascinating aspect about watching Clark portray Sauron in The Rings of Power season 2 is that she often plays Galadriel, a morally upright figure. By assuming the role of the antagonist, she gives us a peek into different facets of her acting abilities, demonstrating her versatility. Remarkably, she pulls off embodying two versions of Galadriel simultaneously: one we’re familiar with and another more sinister, formidable character, showcasing her remarkable range as an actress.

I find the hints that Clark could become a villain in season 3 enticing and I’m eager to see more of it. Fingers crossed that The Rings of Power will utilize Galadriel’s upcoming encounter with Sauron effectively. Although he can assume her likeness without being close, the idea of Sauron mocking her in such a manner is intriguing, given their contentious history over the last couple of seasons. With this potential confrontation possibly being the last one shown, I hope they make it impactful and memorable.

Sauron’s Shape-Shifting Will Likely Be Limited After The Finale

In all likelihood, Season 3 of “The Rings of Power” might be actor Clark’s final opportunity to portray Sauron, given that he transforms into Galadriel in this season. Since Sauron’s power, which allows him to shapeshift, may be severely restricted following the series finale, it seems plausible. However, specific details about Season 3 are yet unknown. The Fall of Númenor, a significant event in Middle-earth’s history, is fast approaching, and the first two seasons of “The Rings of Power” have already paved the way for this event.

It appears that the demise of the kingdom is imminent in “The Rings of Power” season 3, which could mean that Sauron will no longer be able to assume the guise of Annatar or any other beautiful forms as described in Tolkien’s mythos. With his shape-shifting powers waning, Sauron would no longer be capable of imitating Galadriel or any Elves. Instead, he might be compelled to adopt a more ominous and menacing visage, which would certainly be intriguing.
