It appeared as though Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was not planning to attend any upcoming WWE events, but now it seems The Great One is building anticipation for his return on SmackDown. Moreover, his statements suggest he intends to confront someone there, which might hint at his plans for WrestleMania 41.
As he often does, The Rock hopped on Instagram to hype up his upcoming appearance on SmackDown, and he pretty clearly stated this won’t just be a standard appearance to rile up the crowd. Check out his comment on the post promoting his appearance below:
As I eagerly anticipate the arrival of “The Final Boss,” I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation. This enigmatic figure is set to grace the city of New Orleans, not just as a visitor, but as a bringer of change. The city will receive an extravagant, stunning present from this mysterious force – a gift that promises to redefine its landscape.
However, beneath this veneer of generosity lies a darker intention. The Final Boss’s true mission seems to be the disruption of one particular life. With the “Final Boss gospel,” this character will wreak havoc and upheaval in ways that only they can orchestrate.
As I eagerly await the premiere, I find myself both intrigued by the storyline’s mystery and concerned for the fate of the city’s unsuspecting resident. Only time will tell if The Final Boss will deliver on their promises – or if they have ulterior motives lurking just beneath the surface.
With a Peacock Premium subscription, you’ll have the opportunity to watch Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on your screens during WrestleMania 41. Fans can certainly look forward to this, but it remains to be seen whom he will challenge next.
Here’s who I’m thinking and who The Final Boss is angling to take down.
Cody Rhodes
It seems clear that Elimination Chamber is meant to decide Cody Rhodes’ opponent, but wouldn’t it be intriguing if The Rock suddenly appeared and demanded his own shot at the champion? Since we saw last year that The People’s Champion can do as he pleases (like carrying a mock title belt and muscling his way into the main event of WrestleMania 41), who knows what he might do next?
Initially, there was a lot of chatter that The Rock might face off against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania. However, it appeared that Rhodes distanced himself from suggestions that this match would actually take place. I think The Rock will try to provoke Rhodes into accepting the challenge, and since the winner of the Elimination Chamber is also involved, we might see a Triple Threat title match at WrestleMania.
It wouldn’t be fair, but will anyone complain about that booking? I wouldn’t.

Roman Reigns
There’s a common belief that Roman Reigns is the ideal opponent for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the WWE, and I share that view. Currently, it appears The OTC is embroiled in a feud with his long-time rival Seth Rollins before WrestleMania 41, but the idea of a Reigns vs. Rock match has been circulating for quite some time. Given that Dwayne Johnson is now 52 years old, he doesn’t have many more years left to compete in the WWE and deliver a top-notch performance. Therefore, it seems likely that they will arrange this highly anticipated match soon.
As WrestleMania 41 approaches in about two months, this ongoing feud between the wrestlers doesn’t need much more hype or promotions to be well-established. However, I have one concern: this could limit the intense rivalry developing between Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu, which seems to be a key Bloodline storyline that WWE is focusing on. Perhaps a creative solution might involve combining all parties for an exciting tag team match?

Drew McIntyre
It might appear unusual, but let me explain. Despite being among WWE’s top acts last year, Drew McIntyre seems to lack focus leading up to WrestleMania 41. Fans crave more than just a bout with Damien Priest for Drew, and if by chance The Rock becomes free for a match, he would be an excellent fit.
From his recent performances, it appears The Rock is aiming for a friendly rivalry in the upcoming bout. Confronting Drew McIntyre, who has been harassing most main roster members over the last year, would establish this dynamic and provide a match that Drew feels he can handle competently.
On Friday, February 21st at 8:00 p.m. ET, USA Network will broadcast SmackDown, where we’ll discover who The Final Boss has chosen to confront. Here’s to anticipating a memorable showdown, rather than the peculiar moments that marked his recent WWE appearances.
