The filming for Season 7 began in June with most of the cast present, but one notable actor, Tru Valentino, was absent. Now, he has shared insights about his exit from ABC’s procedural drama.
Valentino made an appearance on “The Rookie” in Season 4, playing the role of rookie officer Aaron Thorsen. This character was acquitted of murder charges and gained popularity on social media. Initially not well-liked at the LAPD, Aaron soon demonstrated his skills and formed bonds with the team. He also resonated with viewers, which made Valentino’s departure more poignant. There’s a chance he might reappear as the character at some point. Although Season 6 finale had some suspenseful moments, none of them concerned Aaron, which is positive. Since Aaron didn’t seem to be planning on leaving the LAPD, there are numerous ways this character could exit from Mid-Wilshire.
It’s plausible that Aaron might get moved to a new department or even another location, making it easier for Valentino to come back. Considering his character struggled with PTSD after the Season 5 finale shooting, there’s a chance the stress is becoming overwhelming, leading him to return to work prematurely. Looking forward to catching up with “The Rokei” next year, but I’ll surely miss Aaron Thorsen. Still, the anticipation is high as the show promises to tackle unresolved cliffhangers and revert to its original narrative style. Expect a more serialized format with only a handful of major stories running throughout the season, interspersed with character-centric tales. The upcoming 2025 season will consist of 18 continuous episodes, providing a smoother storytelling experience.
As a dedicated fan of The Rookie, I must admit that I was a bit disappointed to learn that it won’t be part of the TV schedule this fall.
