On the other hand, a more tranquil discussion has been happening in Neverland regarding another potential Christmas movie – Hook, a whimsical live-action fantasy film directed by Steven Spielberg, which features Robin Williams in the mature role of Peter Pan. The movie titled Hook debuted during the bustling 1991 holiday period, and its narrative sets off at Christmastime. Indeed, George Lucas and Carrie Fisher briefly appear together in the movie Hook, standing on a London bridge. As Julia Roberts’ Tinker Bell flies Peter (the character played by Robin Williams) into Neverland, they are seen sharing a tender kiss. At this moment, Tinker Bell showers them with her magical pixie dust, causing an enchanting lift-off, albeit temporary, from the ground.

People didn’t realize that Lucas and Fisher shared the role of the levitating couple in the movie “Hook” until the film’s 25th anniversary in 2016. Just before Fisher’s passing in December of that year, The Wrap confirmed with two directors from the “Hook” film as well as Fisher herself that they performed together in that scene.

Though Fisher’s work wasn’t credited, she actually had a bigger role in Hook’s development than merely suiting up in cameo costume. Spielberg consulted Fisher on massaging the dialogue written for Tinker Bell, leaning on her well-known skills as a script doctor to add an extra dash of fantasy to Roberts’ character. “As thanks for her revisions to Hook,” reports Screen Rant, “Spielberg decided to give Fisher a cameo in the film. Additionally, Lucas was both a longtime friend of Spielberg and friends with Fisher from their work together on the original Star Wars trilogy, so Spielberg included him in the cameo as well.”

Although Lucas and Fisher’s famous visages aren’t visible, they are not the only well-known personalities who Steven Spielberg welcomed on the set of Hook for brief yet recognizable cameo appearances. Glenn Close portrays a bearded pirate whom Hook (Dustin Hoffman) throws into a “Boo Box” filled with scorpions as punishment, while the late Jimmy Buffett takes on the role of a Neverland pirate attempting to steal Peter Pan’s shoes. David Crosby shouts “long live the Hook!” in the film’s opening scene, and even Spielberg himself makes a quick appearance leading the pirates aboard Hook’s boat, demonstrating his directing skills in a cameo.
