In your role as the Envoy, Avowed presents numerous challenges on your noble quest to purify the Living Lands of the Dreamscourge. Apart from the annoying Steel Garotte, some adversaries prove to be more difficult compared to others.
As a gamer, navigating through this vibrant island, I’ve come across some formidable foes hidden within the four distinct biomes. From the menacing ogres to the relentless Inquisitor Lödwyn herself, these challenging bosses are ready to test my mettle at every turn. Brace yourself for the toughest encounters you might face in this game!
7.
Ekiden Spirits
Biome: Shatterscarp
In the primary storyline known as “Shadows of the Past,” when approaching the spirit-guarded ruins of Naku Kubel, a godlike from Sapadal encounters hostility rather than friendliness. After successfully passing each of the three trials set before them, instead of expressing approval, the Ekidan Spirits inform this godlike that they cannot allow them to depart while still alive.
A battle with all three spirits erupts, becoming increasingly frustrating as one of them can cast shield charms and revive the others. To make matters worse, if you’re wielding a gun or bow, they skillfully evade your attacks. However, despite its lengthy duration, the struggle is rewarding with an incredibly powerful ability that’s worth every drop of blood, perspiration, and effort in the end.
6.
The Sporeking
Biome: Galawain’s Tusks

If you haven’t visited the bounty board in Solace Keep and find yourself doing the Boundaries of Antiquity side quest instead, be prepared for a likely encounter with the Sporeking – a colossal toxic mushroom that can summon an army of sporelings to overwhelm you.
Be sure to gather sufficient Springberries, as they can aid in reducing toxic accumulation, since enemies will frequently hurl poison at you from every direction. Once you’ve successfully vanquished the foe, you’ll be awarded the Sporeking Crown as a memento and receive 1,800 skeyts as your prize.
5.
Mater Mare
Biome: Galawain’s Tusks

In Galawain’s Tusks, within the Writhing Ruins, resides Mater Mare – a wicked beetle queen. When you enter a vast, open cavern, it may not seem like there’s a boss battle at first glance. However, to provoke Mater Mare into appearing for combat, you must retrieve an Ancient Arrowhead treasure map from a close-by skeleton.
Mater Mare arrives accompanied by numerous other beetle species within the battlefield. It can quickly become confusing and disorienting, causing one to lose track of their comrades. However, throwing bombs or using area-of-effect abilities, such as those possessed by Yatzli’s destructive spells, may prove useful in regaining your bearings during this skirmish.
4.
Congasar And Crusta
Biome: Galawain’s Tusks

In the game Avowed, one of the toughest challenges you’ll encounter involves taking down not just the ogres Congasar and Crusta for a substantial monetary reward, but these two formidable tanks are accompanied by a swarm of skeleton soldiers. The real challenge lies in dealing with this flood of skeletal warriors during the battle.
In the first minute of combat, you may have depleted the health of both ogres, but there are approximately two to three skeleton priests who can heal them, causing you to return to the beginning. It would be advisable to either bring Giatta and equip yourself with bombs before the fight, while also ensuring that you keep moving to avoid being overrun.
3.
Sibelius
Biome: Galawain’s Tusks

Based on which faction you support, it seems likely that you’ll encounter a confrontation with Councillor Kostya near Solace Keep. Yet, before reaching him, there are formidable opponents to overcome, one of them being the skeleton ice mage named Sibelius.
In the game Avowed, Sibelius alone isn’t particularly challenging, but what can drive you up the wall during boss fights is the overwhelming number of lesser foes. These aren’t just Shadows, there are also bothersome Priests who have a knack for disrupting your progress by healing not only the boss but other enemies as well.
2.
Delemgan Queen
Biome: Emerald Stair

Shortly following your arrival in Emerald Stair and stepping into Fior mes Iverno, Giatta’s acquaintances will frequently task you with various small missions. One of these tasks involves retrieving an Adragan Heart from Delemgan Glade. However, to accomplish this, you must confront the Delemgan Queen.
In your journey, you can opt for a non-violent approach towards the Delemgan Queen’s minions, sparing their lives. However, initiating the boss fight requires otherwise, and before long, a variety of delemgans, sporelings, bears, and other creatures will swarm you. You’ll encounter poison and shock attacks, and after handling most of her underlings, the Delemgan Queen will descend to challenge you. While the Queen isn’t particularly tough on her own, it’s her followers that rapidly turn the situation into a chaotic battlefield.
1.
Inquisitor Lödwyn
Biome: Dawnshore
Since our first encounter with her at Dawnshore, it was apparent she would cause problems. Throughout the game, Inquisitor Lödwyn’s harsh, destructive strategies have strained our relations with the denizens of the Living Lands. Should you choose to oppose her, you’ll face two challenging boss battles: one in Galawain’s Tusks and another during the Siege of Paradis as the final confrontation.
Due to her role as Deathguard and servant of Woedica, Lödwyn isn’t easily defeated. Not only do attackers need to get past three phases, but Woedica steps in to boost Lödwyn’s abilities. From summoning a maegfolc ally to unleashing area-of-effect attacks, Lödwyn’s battle was particularly tough and fitting for a final boss encounter.
